The IBL listing for prospective teams now has the Columbus (OH) Cavalry and Albany (NY) Legends listed.

I appreciate the effort. The question in Albany in the spring is how the Legends are going to succeed where the USBL Patroons failed? The Armory is a straight rental here, so I assume it will be market-rate, or $3-4K per game minimum. Given that, you'll need 2,000 per game or so to break even.

Glad Derrick Rowland is coaching the team though. He should be well above average at this level.

I'm trying to find something positive to latch on to, but...I don't like it already:

Miller also said he wants the new team to be visible in the community and said his plan is to have 200 complimentary tickets available each night for youth groups in the area.

These guys haven't put ball to court yet and already they're talking about comps. How about having sponsors buy 3000 tickets (200 tics X 15 home games) and use THOSE tickets for youth groups? The Armory has an LCD projector they use instead of a video scoreboard (I don't know why, but I've always found that amusing). Plaster the sponsors' name and logo up there every available chance for their good deed. Better yet, just make the youth groups PAY for the tickets and plaster THEIR group name up via projector. Some groups (like schools) are allocated money for field trips. The money might as well go to the Legends instead of the zoo.

The real headline is the IBL is breaking its own rules here. Technically the only team that came back for this coming season is the Windy City Soliders.

The S. Ill Truth are an expansion team. Battle Creek was not coming back... so the IBL just bought them. They had one team... they needed 3 teams. So So ILL will be your new team coming in, Windy City is the lone team coming back, and the IBL decided to do whatever it took to get Battle Creek.

I can't find the Colombus team on the website. But the league is breaking it's own low cost cluster policy by allowing in Albany. Any type of airline travel or weeknight game is no longer apart of a low cost model. The IBL... if it continues this method... is becoming more and more outdated each year.

The question becomes do they screw up the good thing they have going in the northwest because they want to try and continue to sell teams in the midwest?

The IBL website isn't getting updated with news anymore and the videos and content are fairly old.

At some point Bellingham (and others) has to be thinking screw you. Why should I cut you a check and then pay for airline tickets to the midwest? How about I just cut your lazy behind out and all us northwest teams just create a 500 dollar league website, post a schedule with weekend games, and play our games. Without you.
