06/16/2009 2:27 PM - PBL ANNOUNCES ESTABLISHMENT OF FAN COMMITTEE

Chicago, Illinois…The Premier Basketball League announced today that the league will be establishing a Fan Committee to meet and provide input to the PBL executive offices.

“We receive many suggestions and ideas from fans, and there is always great discussion on the chat boards on how the PBL could continue to grow and improve,” stated PBL CEO Tom Doyle. “In keeping with a non-traditional approach to sports business we will be inviting ten fans, selected by the PBL from fan submissions, for an all expense paid trip to the PBL offices in Chicago in September to meet with the PBL and discuss the ideas of the fans selected. The meeting will also be filmed for a special broadcast on @SPORTSTV.”

“Perhaps unlike other professional sports leagues, the PBL recognizes that our product is for fans and that the input of our fans is not only valued, but important in our growth as a sports business,” stated PBL Chairman Dr. Sev Hrywnak

Details of how fans can be consider for the committee will be placed on the PBL web site on Friday, June 19, 2009.

Did anybody see Mr. Doyle at a game last year? I know we did'nt see him or anybody from the league down here. Try calling the PBL office for information or to talk with him. No answer, and no return phone calls. I did call the CBA office once, and got a return phone call from Mr. Hunter. I think he was the Commish. This league said it was a fan frendly league. What may be some examples? I still say if I had a team or a league, I would start a board of director with many of you on this board. It's not like you have to take every piece of advice, but there are many of you that have been around monor league basketball for along time. Mr. Ken and Not So Fast may not make everybody happy, but they sure understand minor league basketball, and they make you think. At least they do me. As I have said before, I have learned a great deal from all of you. Use the knowledge and experiece. The posters on this board look at many angles. Isnt that what a board of directors does? I guess one thing they did for us is put the games on TV in China. That way if you are on business or vacation in China, you can still catch your favorite team. We are joining a new league down here. That shows you how much the league did for our team, and we as fans. Good Luck with the draft. I am sure it will be exciting, and many guys that had outstanding college seasons last year will be drafted. On to a new league Seadogs. Have fun in Chicago who ever you are. Lucky Fan!

juniper, thank you for the compliment. We just enjoy this like you and we try to give insight on things we may know about. Hopefully it can help, but I learn from others as well.

I was at a camp on saturday, and saw all these aspiring young athletes trying to play, and it is a great thing, because they have such passion to play.

Ken and I differ on the pbl, and the job its doing, he is certainly a fault finder when it comes to the pbl, I am more objective. I see the potential. But they need to invest in a good basketball person soon, to advise them. Then they need to pay them and listen to them.

And juniper, you may more insight than you know!!!!

I actually disagree with this. I think the number one priorities need to be to:
a) Hire a PR person who will return phone calls/e-mail from local media, update the website, create a coherent PR campaign and keep Sev from saying dumb ass **** to media in local markets
b) Hire an office manager (or an additional office manager) to handle non-basketball issues (paying bills, controlling paper flow and communications, assisting with website maintenance, etc.) in a professional manner so that everyone else can do their jobs.

After they nail those down then I think they can look at getting a minor league hoops expert. Right now they seem to be incapable of dealing with the basics of day to day operations.
