So it looks like losing to Rochester left a bad taste in the Knight's mouths.

That sucks. They were a solid team.

The press release on their site was just posted this Wednesday, September 23rd. This is the first I've heard of it.

Sorry for posting old news. Didn't realize. I'm a Halifax girl and a Rainmen fan, so I haven't been following what's been going on with BC that closely.
Why were they removed?

Why were they removed?
Because they didn't tow the PBL party line. They weren't happy about how they were screwed over in the final and they spoke up about it.
It's too bad really. Knowing what little I know about the team it looked like they had a nice thing going on:

I admire them for speaking out. It's sad that honesty does not seem to count for much these days(imo).

No kidding! Thanks for filling me in guys. =)
Yeah, I figured it had something to do with how the finals went down. I also admire them for speaking out.
But it's pretty bad to know that teams can't step up to the league when it deserves to be called out...lest they risk being removed.

It was certainly not handled the best, but they should have stayed. For what their budget seems to be, the PBL was a good situation for them. I can't imagine that they really think the ibl is better.
I have had interactions with the doc, and with dulio (ibl commisioner). Both good guys, but I feel doc seems to have a lot more going for himself.
But I will say again, Battle Creek team had a great season, and was fun to see how it played out in terms of, whether they could beat teams out east in the playoffs, and they beat 2 out of the three they played. Not Bad!
Now the PBL has to do me a favor, start a new Chicago franchise (throwbacks sitting this season out). I can't drive to Buffalo for a game!

Hello again, if it's true the situation on Chicago, the only team in that zone will be Detroit, in these economic situation, it's no sense the composition of the PBL, at least to me it's so difficult. I supose the league or the clubs have a lot of money lo lose, or in the next weeks new information will be gived to us. Thanks.

Stayed for what?!? Stayed for the lure of free travel (they already received free refs and uniforms)? They would have remained dancing on the strings of a league that thinks obscure television network first, league second, and screwing the ABA a close third. They should have stayed in their original league that has but one focus in life, to operate a league. Most importantly the Knights should have checked their egos at the door, evaluated Battle Creek's sagging economy, and sat out instead of switching to another league. A winter league, no less, where the competition is stiffer.
BTW, Michigan's economy is still brutal. There's a reason why longtime staples like the IRL race at Belle Island and the PGA's Buick Open are closing up shop. The Knights should continue to close shop too, at least until fans start feeling good about spending money on minor league basketball again.

ken, your criticism of the PBL would be more credible if you did not imply the ibl was better. Everytime you do that, you lose substanial credibility on your argument. The ibl has a multitude of problems over its existance.
And I would think in the PBL' s 6th season, it will be in much better shape than the ibl, with all due respect.
And yes, michigans economy is terrible. And so is illinois for that matter. (i got to start playing the lotto) And to think obama came from chicago,(where is my stimulus?) oh yeah, Acorn got it!! (sorry had to vent a little politics today)

If a team feels they got screwed over by the league (like BC did), then this situation means you keep your mouth shut and do what they say or your out. I like the PBL, but this business is BS. Basically it looks like any team without a 5k+ seating arena wont have a chance at hosting the finals even if they deserve it.

The move with Battle Creek was a very bad situation, and it situated the league in it's real concept, and i think this group of teams over there(Chicago and Detroit) are done. For example, in the website, the Throwbacks have a poll make the follow question "Should the Throwbacks move the team?, it's clear. The other, the Detroit Panthers are worst, there's no website, it reminds you to Allen Americans, and the last, Maryland Nighthawks are not updated.
I'm so sorry to say this things, but i see things that are not normals, more when a lot of people continuosly are saying that things gonna be more serious, please, the best are facts and information, words in these cases seems nonsenses. Thanks. I know it's only a forum, only my thoughs, and at the same time i can practise English, i love it. Thanks again.

They do still have a site, http://www.detroitpanthers.com/
The league just has a different link on their team site. The top link where their logo is still works.

Yes, thank you, i'm so sorry but through the league yo'll go to Allen Americans. I wonder why if Detroit is the only team in that zone, what will be the future of this team. It will be a economic hard league, with no sense travel, including Halifax. It's difficult to understand in this times the reason to accept Lawton-Fort Sill without any team next to, for the moment.

Forget who's better and who's worse, IBL or PBL. It's obvious now that Battle Creek wishes they had never switched to the PBL.
...and personally, I don't think the PBL will make it to a 6th season with its current business model.
