ABA Adds Central Valley Dawgs to 2009-10 Schedule
September 17, 2009 - American Basketball Association (ABA) Central Valley Dawgs
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Central Valley Dawgs have been added to the roster of teams that will begin play in December. "We are very pleased to have Dominick Young and his organization as part of the ABA this season," said Joe Newman, ABA CEO. "Originally Dominick targeted 2010 but has put together a tremendous operation, including a great venue, in a very short time and is ready to "give it a go" this season. Playing in the Central Valley means that his team can play in both our SoCal and NoCal Divisions with easy travel to and from both."
"Our goal is to bring great family fun and entertainment to the Central Valley while also building up and giving back to the surrounding communities," stated owner/player Dominick Young. "This will be a team made up of not only professional basketball players but also local players who want an opportunity to play on a professional team."
"A new team in the Central Valley means new hope for our community," added GM Maureka M. Davis. "We have watched players grow up and build unmatchable athletic talent, players like Ja'Vance Coleman, Demetrius Porter, Shannon Swillis and of course, our own Dominick Young, who all played for the Fresno State basketball team. We will also have local high school standouts and players from other colleges in the Central Valley. Because this is a community oriented team, the Dawgs also have extended its team accessibility to "just your average guy" who loves the game and possesses the talent to compete at the ABA level."
The team has secured a wonderful venue with the help of Rene Hernandez and the McDermott Fieldhouse staff in Lindsay, CA. It is a full-service facility that it not only perfect for a professional team with a gym, meeting rooms, sponsor seating, but it is perfect for family fun. The Dawgs have established a strong partnership with Fresno businesses like Money Good Wireless Cricket located at 3890 N. Cedar Ave in Fresno and Money Good Entertainment. Latino artist Produk is also supporting the team.
"I'm excited," stated local basketball star Ja'Vance Coleman. "I'm going to bring my three point shooting expertise to the team, and it is great to be back with Dominick. Together we hope to build one of the biggest and best organizations in the ABA. It feels good to be back on the court with these guys, this is not only a great opportunity for exposure for a lot of us, but it is also a great chance to boost the community through athletics." For some laughs, stop by the Dawgs website (another free wix.com site - God forbid these teams actually pay any money for a professional site). Be sure to read Young's bio (which may be tough considering the grammatical mess). Some 'highlights':
"After creating and owning several successful ABA teams" - name one 'successful' team...
Would that be Fresno last year, who played a game or two, allegedly 'merged' with the Raptors (creating the infamous Wash-no franchise) during a snowstorm, then faded away without playing one game?
Or the here/gone Fresno Legends?
How about the Fayetteville Fantastics?
Maybe the Chicago Rockstars?

Or the Visalia Dawgs?

And let's not forget Young's "uncensored" website that promoted soft-core porn movies - let's hear it for family-friendly! At least he closed that site (probably didn't pay the hosting fee)
The guy can't even think up a new name, so he recycles Central Valley Dawgs.
