WWSU Sports Central learned earlier this afternoon that Dayton Warbirds Head Coach Matt King has been suspended for this weekends game against the River City Rage.

The suspension comes after complaints from the Rage front office that they did not receive video tape of the Warbirds by Wednesday.

National Indoor Football League Rules state that teams must send opponents video tape by Wednesday of the game week. King stated that it was impossible for tape to arrive in St. Louis on Wednesday after his team beat Cincinnatti Monday night.

"I think they are afraid to play us. They don't want to get out-coached." Said King Friday afternoon.

An appeal won't be given to the NIFL office since the rulebook clearer states the procedure. The Warbirds did send videotape which according to River City arrived on Thursday.

"We had two cameras set up from different angles. We do more than necessary for teams by making our video look good." King also said that the tape (or DVD) that River City sent did not work on an actual DVD player but rather had to be played on a computer which prevented the team from actually rewinding and pausing the game film.

King will turn the coaching duties for the game to Defensive Coordinator Carl Allen. Mike Savino, Special Teams Coordinator will handle changes in strategy and personnel substitutions. "I have the confidence in my staff. I know Mike and Carl very well and we're all on the same page."

King will not travel with the team to St. Louis this weekend. Game time against the top-two teams in the Atlantic East is scheduled for Saturday at 8:00PM/ET.

I wish the organizers of the NIFL were as thorough with the financial situation of their membered teams like they are with tape sharing.

Does ticket money get refunded for games not played in New Jersey?

Why do we constantly have poorly financed teams in the NIFL that begin play in the first place? Did we not learn anything from the 1974-75 WFL?

Curious minds would like to know.

The explanation by the Dayton coach makes sense...

And for River City to complain after what they sent Dayton...

I couldn't care less about either team... But the suspension of the coach sounds a bit ridiculous...

I'm hearing reports that Coach King WILL be at the game tonight. King filed a counter complaint and the whole matter has been dropped.

Sounds like coaches are just trying to psych each other out.

Champions of Steel: the self-appointed conscience of indoor football.

Do you enjoy beating your head against the wall?

Minor league football has always been like this, and probably always will.

Always been like this? It's not minor league, it's bush league.

I don't recall hearing NFL Europe, AFL, AF2, or the XFL losing teams during the season. I guess it all depends on how bad you want to organize versus flying by the seat of your pants.

My point being... why do you waste bandwidth on every message board to complain about it?

Do you have nothing positive to say? Then why do you bother to hang around?

Just go see a game, enjoy it or don't. THAT'S what its all about. Stop making the front office problems your crusade. They aren't listening to you anyway.

(just don't stand in line behind ... nevermind...)

Yeah, they just save it for the offseason, which is just as bad IMO. None of the leagues you just mentioned have stellar franchise survival rates, so this isn't a unique problem to the NIFL.
