Not really.
The UIF doesn't win all of the innersanctum battles anymore.
The question is, will Billings use a true TE this season, hmmm I wonder?
ArenaBall started out with a specialist, then kept adding them so WR didn't look dumb playing DB. Soon enough the Ironman was out of style and they turned to unlimited substitution. (in the 100 yd game they just call it offense and defense).
Is it time for the IFL to add a specialist, a hybrid if you will that can add another dimension to the game? Just think, he could line up in various positions like an undersized LB in the NFL trying to get a jump on the QB or WR. Some teams wanted to combine the RB and TE so he became the H back and played where ever the call took him.
Is it almost kickoff time yet?
Let's debate, err I mean discuss a possible playoff format for a 25 team league. How many should actually get in? Remember, this is about the fans and the more the better.
I expect a 16 team field, 8 from each conference. Of course you need to include all Div winners, so that gives you 3 teams in each conference with an automatic bid regardless of record.. The other 5 per conference need to come in according to their record as wildcards. Yes, it's possible for a wildcard team to have a better record than a div winner.
Now how do we seed them? with 8 teams per conference, the top 4 should host the first game. Since this is the minor leagues and budgets are critical, the other 4 need to play the closet team to them that's hosting the first round game. Yes, it'll screw with the traditional setup of #1 plays #8, #2 plays #7, etc., but in the long run it would make more sense financially.

Sir, as a person who 1st attended AFL games in 1987,
I can tell you with great certainty it was the "gimmick positions",
that ruined Mr. Foster's, game.
unequivocally no, NO, NO
just saying. :)

When dan refers to more of the same, my thinking is he might mean meetings over and not a freaking word. Yep, business as usual. i do not understand why "some" leagues, now and past, seem to feel that putting out timely info is not a good idea. i don't even know the true job description of a league communications director, but thought part of the job was to keep fans informed.
I question the leadership of all the leagues, arena included and just have to wonder if any are leading their respective leagues to a successful future. i used to say that calling yourself "professional" was meaningless unless you actually walked the talk. The same can be said I think for "premier"

Or, perhaps we are more like professional wrestling than "real" sports.. At least the Billings beat writers give a poo

if thats the way the rule was voted in, Mr. Benzio has to reverse the rule. I do not like or approve of the rule anyway its will further create choas for defenses.

5 0f 8 eligible is ridiculous in my opinion, but I don't like the new kick off rule the SIFL adapted either. What is wrong with at least trying to stay close to the outdoor, 100 yard game as possible? One reason I never got that excited by arena was the too far away from the regular game type of play. At some point you have to give the defenses some edge don't you?

Don't believe everything you read, just because it's in an article doesn't make it true. A certain team did cry to Tommy and attempted to blackmail the league. Don't put all of the blame on one side of any disagreement.
With that said, were the By-Laws infringed upon? This wasn't a meeting of secretly invited front offices, all were not only invited but expected to fullfill their responsibility of attending. Why didn't all teams attend? Should those in abstentia even have a right to complain?
Was Tommy and the BOD in attendance? Would they allow something illegal to happen? Why is this the only change this GM is talking about when others took place also? Did he approve of By-Law changes, the structure of the BOD, and another position change?
I guess the man with the most money doesn't always win when he throws a tantrum. The saga will continue.

Marcus Allen Supports The IFL
January 18, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
The IFL had a surprise guest at the recent league meetings in San Antonio. Former NFL running back Marcus Allen met with the league owners to show his support of the league.
Allen, a former running back for both the Los Angeles Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs, currently sales a line of medical rehab equipment that many teams use.
The IFL held its annual meetings in San Antonio. A wide variety of topics were discussed at the meetings, including; review of the league Operations Manual and Rule Book, expansion policies, national TV plans, officiating, and finalizing a playoff format of the 2010 season.

That's old news, but I don't have any spin. This is what led to the Smith's departure from the IFL even though they owned 3 1/2 teams.
I can't dispute or confirm any of the he said she said, that's why we've got judges and juries.

Who has to spin anything? At this point, it's all just allegations. Obviously, there are two sides to the story. Maybe it's telling that Smith was unable to operate his other two teams, teams which Benizio had nothing to do with. At this point, we don't know.

I've followed many teams in differing leagues and have yet to see a league office or commish that hasn't been attacked. Some was deserved and some weren't. Some even feel it wrong for a team owner to also own the league, but hey, who am I to judge. I just want to watch the dang sport.

The TE rule change has been appealed and reversed. It will not be used for the 2010 season.
