The Phantoms didn't make their monthly payment for August to the league.

Bill Miller, the Phantoms' owner, wasn't caught off-guard by the news.

"I didn't tell them (the GPBL) but I was making arrangements with the ABA (American Basketball Association)," he said. "We've made a lateral move."

So you leave one league without even TELLING the folks in charge?

But wait...THE quote of the PR is:

"I didn't like what I was seeing in the GPBL. It seemed like they had a lot of mystery teams."

I'm seeing too many mystery teams. I think I'll bolt to the league leader in mystery teams.

You don't pay your bills in one league, but you join another league and give someone money who doesn't pay his bills??

You talk about the Versus deal. A taped game, on a Saturday while all the other networks are airing live college football. Even if this 'deal' is real, your ratings will make the XFL look like "American Idol".

Mystery teams. Can't wait to hear what you have to say when the Wal-Mart Sharpies show up for a game in 3 Yugos.

Does this guy really think he has a chance to be on the Versus network? They will only have a few games, I doubt they would use a new franchise for it. From my estimate, there are about 5-7 good franchises at most. I would think they would get first pick.

I know the GPBL is unproven. However, I think it would make more sense to take a gamble on an unproven group then to gamble on a proven disaster. I can only say that I am glad I came to this site and learned more about the ABA and only loss $15000.

Yep. It's more than a little ironic when a 'phantom' team takes a jab at the GPBL by saying there are too many 'mystery' teams. Good riddance 'phantom' team.
