Considering the NBDL just lost 3 teams, it would be best if the NBDL & CBA merged.
I'm including the Utah, Kentucky & Orange County of the ABA.
EAST DIVISION
Albany
Roanoke
Fayetteville
Great Lakes
Michigan
CENTRAL DIVISION
Kentucky
Rockford
Gary
Arkansas
Tulsa
MID-WEST DIVISION
Austin
Fort Worth
Florida
Albuquerque
Orange County
WEST DIVISION
Dakota
Idaho
Sioux Falls
Yakima
Utah

There's a lot of us who have been stating for a long time that a merger makes too much sense. Don't know I'd include any ABA team that isn't stable.
Look, Asheville claims to have invested $4 million over 4 years. Even if half that, it begs the question as to why not go ahead and work a merger?
You have the attendance (although not always the stability) of the CBA. You have the NBA backing, NBA TV (although not much in attendance) of the NBA. With the ABA you don't know what you'll get.
What makes the smaller markets vulnerable in keeping playing in 6 team leagues in the south.
I've been arguing that we need a "Continental" conference and a "National" conference, with a real All-Star game on All-Star Saturday with the big boys.
I'd even go as far as stating an NBDL select team should represent the USA for the World Championships, and the NBA best represent us in the Olympics. Asking the NBA players to work on their break ever two years is unrealistic to them.
Yes, MERGER NOW!!

You never know what you ask for you may recieve. Here's my theory.
Continental Division
Yakima Sun Kings
Idaho Stampede
Sioux Falls Skyforce
Gary Steelheads
Rockford Lightning
Michigan Mayhem
Great Lakes Storm
National Division
Albany
Arkansas
Tulsa
Austin
Fort Worth
Florida
Albuquerque
Just a thought.. but I think the era of NBDL teams being owned only by the NBA are over.

It appears to me they are trying to cut Clear Channel out of the mix.
I seem to remember part of the cheaper rent on arenas in those towns was Clear Channel promising to bring in concerts, etc. These other events never really materialized as far as I know. This probably caused much ill will in the communities themselves,
I know they will eventually merge with the CBA, it's the only reasonable thing to do.
Not only do the CBA teams outdraw the NBDL teams but have had more call ups every year since the NBDL's existence.

It's been rumored that the Utah Snowbears are trying to join the CBA. If they can guarentee that they'll get their attendance up, they'll be in. Plus I think the CBA wants an even amount of teams. With Albany & Utah(possibly) joining, it would give the CBA 10 teams.
I would think that if the two leagues merged, they'd rename it, possible NBA2(Like AFL & AF2??)

It's one thing to have a league with Albany and Yakima in it.
A "mid-West" division with Florida and Orange County CA? Holy jumping up and down, Martha!
The CBA AND the NBDL are better off expanding towards their strength vice merging haphazardly. I'm not sure Albany re-inclusion is in line with smart CBA thinking (the past is exactly that).

If the Snowbears get into the CBA, they'll need a new venue. I'm sure the E Center has many open dates.

With the NBA's idea of having 15 teams, with each team
being a farm team for 2 NBA clubs, taking the NBDL and CBA's better teams:
EAST
-------
Albany (Knicks, Nets)
Gary (Chicago, Indy)
Michigan (Detroit, Toronto)
Rockford (Milwaukee, Minnesota)
Fayetteville (Charlotte, Washington)
CENTRAL
-------
Arkansas (Memphis, New Orleans)
Austin (San Antonio, Houston)
Florida (Orlando, Miami)
Fort Worth (Dallas, Phoenix)
Roanoke (Atlanta, Cleveland)
WEST
-------
Idaho (Denver, Utah)
Yakima (Seattle, Portland)
Sioux Falls (Boston, Philly)
Tulsa (Sacramento, Golden St.)
Albuquerque (Lakers, Clippers)

What is with everyone leaving the Dakota Wizards out of their merger plans. The team is one of the most stable franchises in the league.

They forgot the Dakota Wizards because it's a bunch of people just making stuff up out of their heads. Possibly using an atlas and some poor imagination.
Tha Man puts Albany in a "national" division with all southern and western teams. That would work great for an expansion teams travel costs...nice try.
afdave decides to put Boston and Philly with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Why, well because he put teams that seemed close as he worked his list down and by the time he came to the WEST division started grasping. Sioux Falls is a 3 1/2 hour drive from Minneapolis and the Timberwolves, but I'm sure a Sixers or Celtics affiliation would work better....again...nice try.
This message board has gone to hell. It's just people throwing out random thoughts as fact and thinking they are true! The AABL, the IBL, the ABA, the WBA, George Bush, FoxNews and fans of all the above, just because you say it or think it, doesn't make it true.

Wiz Kid -
Sorry had no intention of leaving the Wizards out... If they could continue the tradition the currently have going. They would be the only minor league franchise to switch to 3 differnt leagues and continue to be sucessful. Who said that nothing good came out of the IBA...

Now if this " Merger " were to Happen. Do you think they would change the Name again ?
Is it not the NBDL that is struggling ?
Im sure that commisioner Stern would have a problem with it, but Why not Just leave it as The CBA ?
Im kinda tired of changing the Name.
The Trophy case at The Civic and all the Banners hanging up are starting to resemble each other Finally. ( CBA on most of em' )
Just an Idea.
