Oh wow, was shocked to read about this transaction. Guess Calgary will be seeing a bit more Lima Time then they would have otherwise. Still not sure what to think about it. Will likely bring in bigger crowds when they play in Calgary but............

Here's some more info on the Lima trade from the Armada blog, including the official GBL press release:

personally I think this works out better for Long Beach. Lima would have been gone after the year but we get a top notch pitcher for another year. Lima also wasn't very consistent.

Edmonton couldn't get Dany Heatley so they got Jose Lima instead ;-)
Just kidding.
It think this trade shows that Edmonton's going for it all this year. Maybe the new ownership wants to make an impression, or maybe they really think that this is their year. The second playoff spot in the North is Edmonton's for the taking, and a best-of-five playoff is a bit of a crapshoot, so who knows what will happen?

Oh by the way, I think the trade of Lima for Kris Honel was a steal for Edmonton.
