All American Professional Basketball League

Announces Player Acquisition Plan

April 27, 2005, (Casper, WY) –Today, the All American Professional Basketball League announced the first part of their player acquisition process. The plan assigns NBA teams to each AAPBL team.

Designed to create on-court balance AAPBL teams will each have three NBA teams assigned to them. Players that appear on an NBA team training camp or regular season roster will have their rights assigned to AAPBL teams. In the event a player is released from an NBA team one AAPBL team assigned that NBA team will have the right to sign that player. “We want to promote balance across the league and by creating this system, along with other policies that we will announce soon, it is our belief we will be able to achieve that goal,” said League President, Worth Christie.

“We have received very positive feedback about our plan from people within the NBA and based on what they have told us we believe they will advise players to consider playing in our league,” continued Christie. “The NBA personnel have asked for our schedule so they can scout our league and watch players they may have sent to us.” “We have had very good conversations with the NBA and feel that we have the start of a good working relationship that will be beneficial to the both of us.”

The team assignments are as follows:

Great Falls – Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns

Butte – Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle Super Sonics, Utah Jazz

Billings – Philadelphia 76ers, Washington Wizards, Toronto Raptors

Pueblo – Denver Nuggets, LA Lakers, LA Clippers

Wyoming - New Orleans Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies

Wichita - San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks

Lincoln – Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Charlotte Bobcats

Cedar Rapids – Chicago Bulls, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers

I somehow doubt that the AAPBL and the NBA have a common understanding, especially since the NBA has their own devlopmental system. I guess you have to put out something to make the league look credible.

It is somewhat of a minor league for the NBA. I just wonder if this league will take some of the luster of the NBDL fo the NBA. Just a thought.

So your trying to tell me it is more than / better than its current Minor league system (NBDL) or former minor league system (CBA) and they haven't played a single game. I will be surprised if this league (AAPBL) keeps all of its teams intact for the start of the season. Somehow I don't believe Papa Stern gave his blessings to the AAPBL.

Huh?

People within the NBA? The NBA personnel? Who are these NBA people? You don't have a relationship with the NBA until David Stern SAYS you have a relationship with the NBA. That press release was just as deceptive as any ABA press release.

The league told me they had people at the PIT and they had spoken with Marty Blake. They also have hired a coach who worked with the NBA scouting service.

Just because league representatives talked to Marty Blake and went to Portsmouth doesn't mean much...Every USBL team sends representatives to Portsmouth and every team corresponds with Marty Blake...but the USBL doesn't have any illusions of NBA granduer.

I guess it sounds good in a press release to people who don't know better... however... the only thing that the AAPBL and the NBA have in common are the B and the A in their name.
