HI everyone...I just joined the site and this is my first post. I'm still learning a great deal about the SIFL league, but its been hard to find a lot of information on the teams. I know there are few teams -- well just one (Turfcats), that have a good press relations, but the stuff they send out is usually biased towards the team. Do any of the SIFL teams get any coverage from their local newspapers or tv stations? It seem like all the SIFL city newspapers can care less of the SIFL teams? I live in Lafayette and hardly hear or read anything about the Mudbugs. I don't think Lake Charles or Houma is getting anything from their papers either, and it seems like they can care less. Is the SIFL getting any coverage whatsoever outside the league's generated press releases? It's kinda sad that the SIFL is getting ignored and pushed to the backburner.

That's good for the Lake Charles area, but the Lafayette and Houma papers have to do a better job because the coverage of their teams have been non-existant.

I respectfully disagree when it comes to the Houma coverage ...

Welcome aboard, hang with us and you'll get more than you bargained for - lol
This site (not just the forum, check the football page) and the SIFL site will be your friends. Buy some T-Shirts and hats, become a walking billboard. take some friends to a game, minor league mania is spread by fans and often ignored by the main stream media.
It's a tough job but you'll become addicted.

Wow that Houma site really look good. My apologies for calling them out like that. The Conquerors should be lucky to have their own section like that especially when the Conquerors team website is a disgrace and a horror to the eyes. I've read Chris Singleton's stuff before over the years involving other sports teams like the Saints and Nicholls State, and his Conquerors articles and insight are awesome. Any chance they can move him to Lafayette or Houston LOL.

I agree...but I think you'll see improvements to this now that they have a marketing company handling their image now.

I was hoping for more than this though................
Conqueors Present Family Four Packs
June 16, 2009
HOUMA, La (June 16, 2009) --- Louisiana Sports and Entertainment Group and the Houma Conquerors would like to announce the creation of “The Family Fun Pack.”
The package includes four tickets, hotdogs and fountain drinks for the low family price of $50.
“We hope that the Fans take advantage of this ticket package and come out and enjoy the Game,” said Travis Carrell. `` Where else can a Family of Four go out and enjoy professional level football entertainment for under fifty bucks?"
The Family Fun Pack is available only through the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center Box Office. The Conquerors next home game is Monday June 22 at 6 p.m. at the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center.
The Conquerors will try to upset the League leading Louisiana Swashbucklers.
Come out and help the Conquer the Swashbucklers!
.................................................. ....................
Some teams have a whole lot better deals than that. It's nearing the end of the season, let's get people out to see a game and get them interested. Let's get some hats and T-Shirts on people as walking bilboards so they don't get forgot over the off season.

LOL is this "Marketing Group" a real marketing group? That kind of deal -- to me -- is a ripoff and I doubt the good people of Houma will buy plenty of those packages. You can get the same deal for Hornets games at a way lower cost than that. The Conquerors live in the most colorful, culture-rich area of Louisiana and that's the best they can do. get outta here lol. They need something more effective (and free giveaway) to get people off the shrimp boats/fish ditches and into the seats.

Yeah, it's a real marketing group. That's funny, because I thought it was rather reasonable on the surface. But I guess I didn't take into consideration that it's the end of the season, they're a losing team, and the market is not necessarily the wealthiest around. I suppose you are right.

All 4 of their remaining games are at home, so I guess that does make a difference.
Austin only has 1 remaining regular season home game and you can get a family 4 pack of tickets for free. It's their last chance to get people out to a regular season game in 2009. A season ticket 4 pack was only $99 = $4.13 per person per game. Keep the dog & soda.
This hopefully gets new people to see a game and should help increase the crowd for their home playoff game if they can beat Acadiana next week.
They need to push the merchandise table and possibly have some deals ready there. The teams name needs to still be out in the public and on the streets in the off season. Nothing better than hats and shirts.
I was at a store today and the guy working commented on my Turfcat hat. I was surprised because it doesn't have the name, just the Cat logo. As we chatted awhile the 2 girls at the cash register listened in and gave me a 15% discount when I checked out for wearing it - WOOT-WOOT!
