Participating in the draft of Twin City and Richmond players were:
Mississippi Hockey
Louisiana Icegators
and...
Pensacola!
The IceGators elected to pass on two of the rounds. I'm going to trust their judgement for now on this.
This would also mean that there will not be eight teams in the SPHL for 2009-10. I'm not crazy about an odd number of teams in a league. But the cities that are in....I like much. This league could carve a niche with the old school I-10 ECHL rivalries.
I would hope this league never gets too "expansion happy" like the old WPHL. They're in the type of area where a consistently interesting eight teams would work great. Maybe ten could be the absolute ceiling. Twelve teams would kill the league.
