Fairly rabble-rousing, slap-dash article until someone in the comments points out that a public search of the ownership of the team includes Stephen Franke's own company. I did the lookup and confirmed it myself, and I see it's been picked up now in ITB and FYC as well.

Stephen Franke was majority owner of the K.C. franchise in the old UHL.
And thats when Ft. Wayne was in the league. As an old friend of the Franke
family and a big Komet fan, I can say that Steve's glove Co. in Missouri has
a little slice of things here and there. Even had a slice of the old Missouri
River Otters of the UHL. Steve like his brothers, is a hockey fan and a sup-
porter of the "new" IHL. Expect another announcement or two or three from
the league regarding further expansion by the end of June. To conclude,
if Steve Franke has a small piece of the pie, "So the hell what"?
