I appreciate the kind and supportive words, both here and elsewhere.
The emails between us continue - amazingly, more and more people continue to be copied by the CEO (so far, Tinkham and Chichester joined his distribution list).
I have yet to direct one insult toward him or his family, and yet he continues his pattern of put-downs, insults and sarcasm. I am now referred to as "all wise, all knowing, supreme being Adam" because, apparently, I ask questions. He did, however tell me that my comment that his 'head was in the sand' was another nasty, meanspirited remark. And yet, he doesn't seem to recall: making veiled threats to others on the posting board (which what set me off and started the whole thing); using klan references ("hiding behind your hood"); comparing a member to the Klan as well as terrorists and bank robbers; and calling posters repulsive (and worse).
He made the comment that one member should "quit making assumptions about things of which you have no knowledge and compound the misstatements that seem to charactize many on this chat page." I have made comments and suggestions about issues that trouble the league - even stating that "I have not claimed to have all the answers; that doesn't mean I am not qualified to have the questions, however." The response, more vitriol.
It is almost sad that a grown adult - old enough to be my father (or more) - who has had a relatively successful business career can only communicate with either love or hate. There is apparently no middle ground.
It's really a shame. Did I expect to change the league? Hardly. But my misguided ideal of discussion boards seemed to present the opportunity to communicate directly with the person responsible for change in the league these sites cover regularly. However, you are either with him, or against him. And if you don't know where you stand, you are probably against him, unfortunately.
