Whats up with Battle Creek from the sound of it there not taking there whole team. Anyone know what going on there. My cousin did not give me whole story but I guess some of the players said they would not play. Good for them if you ask me. They played hard to get home court and it was taken away so Rochester could win the PBL

What people FAIL to remember is that this basketball world is small. One player for sure from BC had made plans to be playing for an overseas team, prior to the finals game, so you can spin it what ever way you want, truth is again money is the bottom line, for the PBL , for the owners and for the players.

I believe it's more about money than "fixing it" so Rochester can win. Fact is, Rochester has been just as good on the road as at home this year. Is it about putting 7,000 people in the seats, generating a little extra revenue, and putting across a good image? Yes. Is it not fair? Given the rules set before the season, I'd say yes. But I'd bet their entire conversation centered around Rochester's ability to draw fans, the arena's look, etc, and none of it focused on making it so "Rochester could win."

Sounds like yesterday was a roller coaster for the BC team, and understandably so:

http://www.battlecreekenquirer.com/article/20090417/SPORTS/904170324/1006

Sounds like they are coming back on board (and I'd bet the remaining hold outs will now rejoin), but Admiral's info is verified here. The league apparently dangled a carrot or two out there (money) to get the BC players back on board.

Honestly, if I were the league, I'd almost be cheering for BC. Then, you get the game at a place where it looks better, but people can't say they gave Rochester the title.

Of course, the conspiracy theorist in me wonders if maybe the league is going to consolidate and focus on where they're strong (the east coast). So perhaps they didn't see the purpose in having a team that isn't in their long-term plans host the title. That's probably not it, but you can't help but wonder...

I don't think you can argue this is a "fair" decision. It is not. Is it one with good rationale? Maybe, but that's debatable. The main problem is that with the team owned by one of the league's owners benefiting from the change, it gives the appearance of impropriety.

To be fair, the same thing happened this season in the CBA. There the better team won on the road, but it was a struggle.

Is the game available on the Internet? I'll definitely be rooting for the Knights in this one.

I'll be at the game, me and my Nikon.

In all my PBL travels this year, I've met up with several OSC posters, including Tony in Buffalo (tbayz), Amy in Montreal (sasquatchfan01), Dan in Vermont (ABA Champs x 2), the Sweeper, some of the posters from Halifax (they made a road trip to Quebec), and others. Hope to see all of you next season as well.

I'm boycotting it myself...

I actually meant to say no, it's not fair, in my post. I've got to proofread. ;)

Wow check out the article in the Battle Creek local paper the league is paying the team to play the game. Like I said there is players not going. Tino is already gone to play Mexico and now they lost a 2 starter and a player who was avg over 20 points a game in his last 4 games Chris Gaines. Than the Buie guy said they could win. Come on its not like there are playing the throwbacks. The league has turn this into a joke I hope the people in China watching this game like blowouts. I guess look at this way if Battle Creek can keep from getting beat by 30 they will be a win for them.

What I am not following is this constant babble from a-1 sports and the pbl office about this league being a new model for minorleague basketball.

Well I have followed the CBA, USBL, IBL, NBDL, IBA, WBA, and the ABA. And I have a pretty good idea as too what they are trying to accomplish. I guess I am not very bright. But after two years and attending many pbl games, following the website, press releases, etc...I can safely say, I have no idea what the master plan is.

But I know that the very faithful and loyal fans of battle creek, who drove in sub zero weather to Chicago on a Cold sunday evening, to support their team, have been screwed and must really be upset.

How could a leagues objective be to piss off hundreds of people? So to make the thousands in Rochester happy? What price has been paid to gain these dollars? If the league needs money that bad, then don't pay for so much extras for the teams.

I submit to you, I am not a college graduate, I am not a Dr. or lawyer, so maybe theres a master plan that is bigger than my little brain can understand. But forgive me, because all I keep thinking about is the loyal battle creek fans that outnumbered the Chicago fans in Chicago, and how much they loved their team. I wonder how those people feel right now about the pbl. And the sad thing, there voice will never be heard.

Have you seen Kelogg Arena it's one of the best Arenas in the legue and if we gave away tickets we could have got 7000 as well. Fact is most of the league plays in high school and colege gyms and Kellogg arena puts them to shame. So It's not about the arena it's about the Razorsharks in this BS. league.
