The SIB (Super Indy Baseball) league (www.superindybaseball.com ) plans to have 32 teams in 8 divisions across the country to start play in 2011.

Your thoughts?

Interesting. Some of the same folks behind the defunct South Coast League.

A really ambitious under-taking considering thb economic climate. Do they have adequate financing available to ensure success in the first few years?

I don't know about financing. But the franchise fee is only $60,000 which obviously is meant to solicit interest. With 24 months to go, there is yet to be any confirmation of any team joining the league.

The site mentions Atlantic City only because the Surf of the Can-Am league have folded (dragging the Ottawa franchise down with it) partly because of not being able to find a new owner. The real reason is because the city wants to tear the stadium down and build a casino.

There may be talks with other interested groups around the country, I don't know. I do know that right here in Ottawa, somebody has already asked the city on behalf of the SIB about the availability of our now empty stadium.

I believe they recently confirmed a franchise for Ocala, FL.
