the league really needs some more. i think that is why the atlantic league is such a better game when you watch. is wiki gonzalez the only one lest in this league since garces was just released?
if they signed a few more ones attendance would be alot better. walter young was even cool to watch.
any thoughts

The problem is that former MLB players are here because nobody in MLB thinks they can play anymore. They couldn't even get a minor league contract. They likely were journeymen players. Few Ricky Henderson types will play in indie leagues and if they do like Ricky did, way past their prime after 20 odd years in the majors.
There are also few players with real name recognition able and willing to play independant baseball. Wiki Gonzalez has little name recognition having played 300 games in seven seasons. Walter Young has none. Garces does and would help attendance more for New England teams.
Yes, I agree former MLB players would help attendance, especially in the right market. The problem is finding a player still able to play and willing to play for a lot less money. If Pedro Martinez does not get a major league job, would he come and pitch for the Rox? Would Daryle Ward and Aaron Fultz, both released by the Reds just yesterday?

Funny how things turn out sometimes.
I was going to mention in my previous post that Oil Can Boyd played in the Can-Am for Brockton in 2005. Now, according to local news, Oil Can wants to pitch again and the Ottawa Voyageurs are interested. Boyd is 49 years old and played for the Red Sox, Expos. His last year was for the Rangers in 1991.

Wow! Over one month between posts in here. Last year before the start of the season, things were brisk. There was a "who will be the 2008 champs" thread.
A bad thing for the Can-Am? Why would it be a bad thing?
jgreco68 started this thread saying we could use more. Boyd was ready to join Ottawa before the franchise had to fold because they and Atlantic City had no owners. Gagne is the biggest former MLB name and that will help the Capitales, at least in attendance. They may just win it all this year by the way. They also have Pierre-Luc Laforest. Not a name most would recognize but a former MLBer. There may be others I'm not aware of.
