Hounds Have No Place To Call Home

International Hockey League

March 19, 2009

Rochester, MI - The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Thursday that Craig Drecktrah, owner of the Chicago Hounds, released that the Chicago Hounds will not be back for the 2009-2010 IHL season as hoped.

"The Hounds have no place to call home," stated Drecktrah. "I have been working on several places in the Chicago area over the past two years. One place we were working on needed to be totally renovated before we could play there and it has been extremely difficult to raise money for the renovations in this tough economy."

The other option for the club was the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, where the Hounds played during the 2006-2007 season. The representatives at the Sears Centre have chosen not to move forward with the Hounds.

"It is unfortunate that the economic times and the current facility can not recognize the strength of ownership that Craig brings to minor professional hockey," stated Paul L. Pickard, IHL President/CEO. "The IHL will continue to work with Mr. Drecktrah in securing the Chicago Hounds a new home. We thank Craig for his relentless effort and continued support of the IHL."

Drecktrah will look at selling his current share or release it back to the IHL by June 30, 2009.
