View Full Version : Dusters Shock Yard Dawgz in Scrimmage!

I made the trip from Edmond, and walked away stunned....
The Dusters and Yard Dawgz practiced together briefly, then scrimmaged. The Dusters embarrassed OKC....I'm still stunned...Amarillo has very fast receivers and defensive backs, and great pass rushers. Their FB's are kind of so-so, but otherwise they looked very strong in all areas. They totally dominated the Yard Dawgz. I think OKC underestimated them greatly. Like I said it was a scrimmage, and the QB's weren't hit, but otherwise they ran it as a game. They did PAT's and everything. Just a conservative guess, I'd say Amarillo won 60 to 21. OKC only scored 3 times. Amarillo scored at will. Amarillo had 4 interceptions on OKC's QB's. Walker for Amarillo is unreal on both sides of the ball.
The Myriad isn't as nice as the Ford Center, but it's still a cool spot to watch arena ball.
Any other teams scrimmage yet?

First lets correct your erroneous report of the workout. #1 it was a practice not a scrimmage. They did one on one with the lineman and skill guys. I also saw group work with the lineman and rec and Qbs. I also saw the ball placed in the 25 yard line going in. With no first downs or penalties being marked off. They just continued until they scored both teams never stopped anyone in this format. Except for interceptions. I also saw several sacks on both teams where the whistle blew but they allowed the play to stand. Next time maybe you should actually attend before trying to talk noise. I was at the fan appreciation day the Yard Dawgz had and specifically asked the coach about your comments on here and he laughed. He said it was a great workout on both sides the only thing Amarillo won was the *&6^ talking contest. Any way guess I"m gonna have to pay attention to this message board more often if your wanting to talk smack.

How well did J Reese (Julian Reese) play for Amarillo?

Easy now, I am a Dawgz fan. I saw the scrimmage, saw the whole thing, and what I reported is legit. Like I said, Strickland is a nice guy, but he threw 3 picks. We couldn't stop Amarillo's pass rush, and our skill guys couldn't run with theirs. I'm just worried. Amarillo scored at least 10 times, and we only scored 3 times. I talked to a Lyles (assistant?) and he said he was with Amarillo last year. I could tell he was embarrassed by the performance. A whoopin is a whoopin, scrimmage or no scrimmage.
Maybe we'll have something in store for the Pioneers.

This is the kind of representation we get from Amarillo? Psychoticweasel rambling on incoherently? What language do you speak?
Let's face it; three games left and the Dusters will have to scrape for all three. The team is steadily playing worse. Lately, teams have either found a way to stop Julian Reese or he's hit the wall. You can say all you want about the defense being bad, but that's the way the game is designed. It's an OFFENSIVE oriented game.
No more home games in the Cellar. Might spell trouble. I hope these guys go on a three game tear before the playoffs, but I'm not holding my breath.

Did you guys read Les Giles' story in the Globe News today? How lucky are the Dusters? All they need is for Central Valley to lose to Memphis! It doesn't make one bit of difference if they lose their last two games as long as Memphis slaps Central Valley around. Not the most admirable way to make it to the playoffs, but take what you can get right?
