Dang. This almost sounds like an ABA deal... but it's David Kahn, who has a quality rep, a lot of Portland ties, and didn't seem like the type to dive into something like this. Color me stunned.

I'd love to see who gets preferential treatment in the markets where there's an ABA and an NBDL team.

This is not that big a surprise. Stern is clearly serious about his plans for the NBDL. I still say MERGE WITH THE CBA!

I had heard about this a few months ago and knew the release was coming soon , I was kind of hoping that this was one of the reasons the snowbears bailed.

I have never understood why the NBA only went to small citiies in the southeast. If you had a nice pay structure and put the teams in decent markets (not huge) and the NBDL became a place for college guys who didn't get drafted or signed, i think it could be a success. I'd like to see cities like Omaha, Des Moines, KC, OKC, Colorado springs, etc...get teams. This could really work.

By the way, ABA is a joke.
