Wilmington 111 - Augusta 97.

Augusta agreed to fill in for this next to last home date on Wilmington's schedule and I'm thinking they wished they hadn't. Without Millien they are a shadow of their former selves and the Sea Dawgs took control midway through the first period and never looked back.

The Sea Dawgs tried all sorts of strange lineup combinations in the game and almost all were effective. Tonight was more like the ABA days as it was mostly Cedric McGinnis most of the time, dropping 28 points on the visitors.

This will be my last regular season home game, as I have obligations on Sunday and they're road Dawgs from now until the playoffs. I have had a blast in what may be the team's best year ever. If only that pesky Rochester wasn't in their division.

Augusta lost by 14 on the road in a league game. This isn't particularly unusual, nor is the score, 111-97, for a minor league pro game.

I wouldn't use terms like "they wish they hadn't come." The Sea Dawgs didn't win by 50.

All I meant by that was they wish they hadn't because they picked up another loss. They're fighting for a playoff spot. It has nothing to do with embarrassment. Geez.

They're not "mathematically" out of it. Right now Battle Creek is locked in, Manchester could be locked in over the weekend with two wins and a Vermont loss, and the Eastern Division is still a snarl.

As for the Wild Cards, with Wilmington winning, Rochester and Vermont are now the top wild card teams, with Halifax, Augusta, Chicago and Detroit with a mathematical chance to still get back in. Quebec and Buffalo are playing out the string. Montreal could still mathematically make the playoffs, but not unless they get a stronger lineup - I mean, signing guys who can actually PLAY the game on the PBL level and not on the ABA / YMCA level.

Wilmington has played three more games than Rochester and has won two of them (Wilmington's record is 11-4, Rochester's is 9-3). Therefore, Rochester is still 1/2 game behind in the standings, and is currently in the first Wild Card spot.
