Shame on you, Utah!

The Utah Snowbears have defeated the Long Beach Jam...and have chosen to end their season with that victory. As an avid Long Beach Jam fan, I am nothing less of ashamed of and infuriated at a team that should have kept going and end up winning an ABA title. Now I could only look what could have been if we were the ones able to take on Maryland or Bellevue in the semifinals.

Shame and reprimands of infinite proportion on the entire Snowbears team, coaches and staff. They caught a big fish and let it get away.

I don't think Utah owes anyone an apology...for that matter, I don't think they owe anyone much of an explanation for their actions either. The reasons why they did what they did should be quite clear. They were sick and tired of losing money because of a sham season for a sham league. My only question to the Utah Snowbears is, Didn't you see the warning signs before you plunked-down a $10,000 franchise fee? There were red flags flying everywhere.

Think about it. Utah's season was shortened, so why shouldn't their play-offs be shortened also. It's not like they were affiliated with a legitimate league anyway. Someday a real league called the new ABA may come along, but we haven't seen that league yet.
