guys:

let's assume (i know...) all 68 aba teams make it to next year...how will they be aligned???

i figure 9 divisions of 6-8 teams each...all based on geography and play all games inside of their division...

southwest (7) phoenix, tijuana, gallup (nm), long beach, los angeles, bakersfield and hawaii

west (7) utah, san jose, san fernando, ontario, orange co, reno and las vegas

northwest (6) calgary, edmonton, vancouver, portland, everett (wa) and bellevue

south central (8) austin, san antonio, texas, new orleans, lake charles, louisiana and mexico city

central (8) chattanooga, nashville, kentucky, kansas city, st louis, arkansas, indianapolis and cincinnati

southeast (7) mississippi, birmingham, mobile, raleigh, carolina, charleston (sc) and atlanta

deep south (7) tampa, jacksonville, naples, orlando, miami, georgia and savannah

northeast (8): new jersey, maryland, baltimore, norfolk, scranton, queens, long island and harlem

north central (7): buffalo, rochester, cleveland, pennsylvania, toledo, columbus and montreal

It's only mid March, and awfully early to be looking at division lineups. Joe probably still has another 50-60 teams to announce yet. There will probably be 40-45 divisions--one for each state with multiple teams.

God, you're bored, ain't ya? You mean the drama of the ABA Tournament isn't enough to keep you interested?

Doesn't matter how many divisions there are or how they're aligned, now does it? Divisions didn't come into play this year (heck, won-lost records didn't exactly mean a whole lot this year).

I'll be interested to see if they have 70something teams next season (if there is a next season) and how many are just absolute ramshackle outfits and what percentage end up not lasting the year. I wonder if Joe will be able to figure out how many teams he has on an ongoing basis.

I suggest the ABA have two divisions next season -- teams that actually are playing, and teams that only exist in Uncle Joe's head.

We can take bets on which division will be bigger by the season's end.
