Just when you thought you'd heard it all from Uncle Joe comes the bombshell that the ABA is expanding to Hawaii. According to the league's press release, the ownership group has "overcome" the obstacles of travel. Perhaps Joe really did buy the Brooklyn Bridge! Unless this new super owner has his own private plane and is planning on flying visiting teams in.
As beautiful as it is on the islands, who's going to want to spend two hours inside watching second-rate hoops?

Yes, this is going to work. Teams weren't willing to pay for travel expenses to go from Las Vegas to Utah and they are expected to go from New Jersey to Hawaii?
I can see it already! Hawaii finishes the season winning every home game by forfeit. Of course that will probably also mean they will lose every road game by forfeit as well. Vegas odds say Hawaii finishes .500 in the official ABA website standings!

They'd better only play teams as far away as Oahu.
You think Burrell Lee would have been able to come up with airfare to Hawaii for the LA Stars this year? You're dreaming.
Unless they build a bridge from LA to Honolulu by November, don't count on this lasting too long.

I was just making a statement Chiefster by using New Jersey as an example of a team going to Hawaii. I unlike you know that New Jersey more than likely won't even field a team next year! Do you honestly think ANYONE is going to get to Hawaii? You'd have to be a complete moron to think that. I don't care if they are playing the farthest west located team in California. The #1 rated Utah Snowbears now can't even play anymore playoffs. When are all you blinded, brainwashed ABA believers going to give it up just like your teams are?????!!!!!!!!!

The arena-building department of the ABA is digging a tunnel under the Pacific as we speak.

Joe's monologue keeps getting longer and longer... but at least the jokes are getting better and better. Joe has outdone himself with this expansion franchise. What's next? Europe, Africa, Asia. Joe will soon have the fastest growing "professional" sports league in the entire world before November. He's also going to have one large securities fraud lawsuit if he keeps going.
Chiefster or Joshy or whatever your name is today, you are smoking serious crack if you think any of the team's in Hawaii's division (eg, LA Stars, Orange County Crush, Long Beach Jam, Bellevue Blackhawks) are going to be able to afford the airfare to/from Hawaii for even one roadtrip. They can't afford to cross the street... much less the Pacific. Didn't they eliminate the Canadian franchise because no one could afford to travel there? C'mon. Of course, you'll probably tell me that Joe is going to add five more teams in Hawaii so that they can reduce travel costs. You need to take off Meye's rosy colored glasses and see the ABA for what it really is before you make an even bigger fool of yourself.

I am reading this thread at work and literally had to bite my hand to keep from laughing out loud. An ABA team in Hawaii, eh? Maybe Uncle Joe saw the Hawaii episode of "The Brady Bunch" and thought, "Hey, if they could do it, so can we!" Maybe the ABA will book 4 or 5 teams on one plane and send 'em all out to HI at once, to reduce travel costs. Of course, if the plane goes down in the Pacific, there goes one-tenth of the ABA. Do you think Joe even realizes that Hawaii is an island and NOT connected to the continental US? Or perhaps Joe has Hawaii mixed up with Alaska. "Yeah, one long bus drive, that's all." Or maybe the ABA has purchased it's own league boat, and will be ferrying the teams out to the islands.
Yet another laugher for the ABA. What's next, Joe? "The ABA is proud to announce a team on the Moon for the 2005-06, as the fastest-growing league in history adds its 193rd team!"
