Chicago, IL...The Premier Basketball League announced today that basketball will continue in Montreal this season.

The ownership group of the Montreal Sasquatch recently had their membership rights in the PBL terminated, however the PBL has secured Soar Enterprises, Inc. to take over the Montreal membership for the remainder of the season.

"Montreal will continue to play the scheduled games, beginning this Friday with the game in Manchester against the Millrats." stated PBL CEO Thomas Doyle. “The PBL will work closely with the Soar group to ensure proper compliance with all PBL rules.”

"We are pleased that they are willing to work with the PBL to continue operations in Montreal this season." added PBL Chairman of the Board Dr. Sev Hrywnak.

The Montreal roster and additional details will be released tomorrow.

On another note, the transactions page states that Halifax has released Rob Sanders.

Montreal was not reinstated as such. Much like last year with the Jacksonville Jam and Jacksonville Slam, the league has found someone to run a team named Montreal for the rest of the year. My guess is it's probably the Matrix ownership group. At any rate, like with Jacksonville last year, the players had to be given the opportunity to sign elsewhere and that, technically, is what happened with the dispersal draft. The new group will probably fill a roster of local talent and act as the Washington Generals for the league, but the slate of games will go on. (So far, IIRC, only two were missed).

Washington generals version one now in the pbl. Look for two more versions in detroit and mid michigan. hopefully not buffalo and chicago.

I understand the desire to be an international league and tv deals in china etc.... that all sounds good, but how about talent on the floor? How about fans in the seats? How about 1st class arenas to play in? How about top quality coaches?

I will say this, the stats have been great this year. Box scores on a timely basis and consistent. Big improvment.
