There are 245 games listed on the official ABA website thru 2/8/09:
http://abalive.com/schedule/index.html?act[v]=list

Of those, 45 show a score (of course, two of those are 1-0 games), while the remaining 200 show a 0-0 tie.

And I thought soccer games were low-scoring...

<Regardless of the fact that we know better, and that Turbo probably has more scores that Joe does, to a new or curious fan of the ABA who goes to the LEAGUE-CONTROLLED website, this is the only information they are given about league games>

First off, the league schedule (except for the first few games) didn’t include east coast teams, so the list is shorter than it should be.

Next, of the 189 games through January 31st (the latest update I had) at least 81 games were played. There are certainly more—some of the west coast teams’ records indicate scheduled games were played—but some teams never responded to my requests for scores. Of the 81 games, 56 were played without any changes to the schedule while 25 had new dates or a change of opponent.

Additionally, there were 57 games played that were not on the schedule, mostly by the big four: Nashville, West Virginia, Kentucky and Knoxville. These games were taken from team schedules and added to my very unofficial one. There were at least 113 team-announced games, so overall the league is playing just under 50% of its games.

If you drop the WV Wild and the folded teams (Alaska, Washington, Gallup, Sacramento, Salt Lake etc.) the league would be at the 60-70 percent level. But that’s been the problem every year—teams dropping out early and having a ripple effect on the remaining teams.

Finally, at least 10 teams are at the 50% mark (15) for games played.

(Note: I did not include the 22 games played against the CBA.)

Turbo -
I don't doubt for a second the accuracy of your numbers.

My point was that the league's OFFICIAL website - the one that should be the location of record for all ABA-related information, the one run by the league office, the one that any person interested in the league would go to to learn about the league, the one that will now (3 months into the season) post the stats of the (alleged) top 10 scorers, rebounders, etc. (but not the rest of the players???) - can't even provide an accurate accounting of its own games.

But, based on Joe's tone in his emails to Paul, the basketball part of the ABA isn't a priority.

So in that vein, it makes perfect sense...
