The Illinois Basketball League has eight franchises for sale according to the league's web site at www.leaguelineup.com/iblhoops. The IBL is mentioned on the United States Women's Basketball League (USWBL) at www.uswbl.com. The IBL is a men's league proposed for a December 2005 or January 2006 start. The USWBL is a women's league that is also trying to start in December 2005 and run to March 2006.

The IBL has eight franchises listed--Bloomington Bearcats, Champaign Cobras, Danville Pirates, Decatur Dragons, Jacksonville Kings, Peoria Panthers, Quincy Skyhawks, and Springfield Storm.

Those are all downstate Illinois, right? My geography is off. I knew there was a Jacksonville in Alabama and obviously the one in Florida, but I didn't know they had a Jacksonville in Illinois as well.

Am I wrong or was that the fastest league folding we've seen? Between 8:26 last night and 9:16 this morning, the Illinois Basketball League has collapsed/vanished.

BTW, if you are going to start a league, let the fans name the teams. You can get some publicity and start building your customer/prospect database via a name-the-team contest.
