Or, as it's commonly referred to in the ABA....Tuesday.

You merely compound your problems if you are found guilty of contempt of court. The court will accept a lot of things, a lot of excuses, a lot of regret, a lot of people saying sorry, a lot of contrition...........but if you start dismissing, ignoring or simply hoping the court won't know that you aren't following their intent and instructions you merely add more problems to your original ones.

I really wish Q well. This is not something he should so easily cast aside.

Wow, and to think ...

"Q" was being groomed by the ABA CEO to take over the ABA.

This surely must tell us alot about the ABA CEO, and what possible "deals have been devised" , down in that basement office of his.

How can anyone be surprised? Seriously!

The ABA CEO is a low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low version of Bernie Madoff (no offense Bernie)...and with the make-up of the average ABA owner how can anyone be shocked?

90% of them fancy themselves as P.Diddy or Kanye West, yet don't have the finances (lets not get into credit........... hahahahahahahaha) to buy even an El Camino at Freddies Buy Here Pay Here Auto Lot. It's ridiculous how no one comes out and even talks about the owners background and ability to even run these "franchises". Drop them in South Central, East L.A. or Camden, NJ and they are right at home. Is that the make-up of someone you want running a "pro sports franchise", taking your sponsorship and season ticket dollars, and using it to finance their dream of owning a pro sports team? The owners AND Joe are to blame. Neither have the right to even have a bank account, let alone be around the innocent public and hard working Americans.

You jest. WAS?? He IS and STILL will be!! :P

"He hasn't been convicted of anything." You know that's coming. (So when a judge orders an arrest for contept the judge is lying?)

"There are more important things in the world going on..." You know that's coming, too.

No, actually the world is clear this week. Looks like shutting down the ABA Ponzi scheme is good to go....

Do you know anything about Quintin Townsend's background? Because I don't. Every picture I've ever seen of him has been him in a suit. He may have grown up in the suburbs and gone to business school like most white collar criminals. What you're getting at is that Q is black. Just admit it.

With all due respect, I am beginning to think that you just don't like black people. First your question about whether or not there are any white owners in the ABA, then your outrage at historically black colleges (and the claim that there'd be outrage if there were traditionally white colleges... which is pretty easy to refute), and now this. I really think you need to lay off comments directly about race like the first two, and implicitly about race like the one above.

Whatever. No one said anything about race. Ever. Simply take a look at the CHARACTER MAKE-UP of the typical ABA owner and tell me where I am wrong. Most (like 90%) have no money coming into this venture and have track records of bilking people. Quite a few (not all, but more than the average minor league sport) have some sort of criminal background or before their time is up as an owner, have committed some sort of crime. Am I wrong? I never said anything about race; so what if 90% of those that have bilked people in the ABA are black? So what if 80% of the owners are black? That was NOT my point and never was. But take a look around CHris and compare it to other leagues!!!! Other SPORTS! How am I wrong? Is there ANY other league or minor league sport with the track record of the ABA with the same consistent make-up of character. There is none. Period. Get off your soap box.

This is not a race issue, so that needs to be left out of the equation. Mr. Townsend has admitted fraud and forgery in this case and will now have to suffer the consequences. According to very reliable sources, Mr. Townsend is facing prison time on the initial charges and could face additional time for his latest arrest.

...

Quite a few (not all, but more than the average minor league sport) have some sort of criminal background or before their time is up as an owner, have committed some sort of crime.

Broad generalizations - with no supporting proof - are a slippery slope to travel.

There have been a few well-publicized cases of owners with legal baggage.

They have been pointed out here by the people on this board, who do a far more thorough job of due diligence and research on the backgrounds of ABA owners AFTER they join than Joe ever does BEFORE he takes their check.

If there are issues with the litany of failed ownership, they are far more apt to be due to poor business acumen or little to no capital; the "criminal" element is far, far less than you portray it to be. Those that do occur make for much flashier stories and threads than the dozens of ownership groups who just drift away.

Am I wrong?

In this case, yes.

But if you feel strongly that you are right, then cite the examples to back up your claims.

This rudderless shipwreck of a league has so many faults and failings - starting on Holliday Drive in Indianapolis, IN - that can be accurately portrayed and disseminated, that there is no need to invent problems...

ABARWB, it just seems everytime there is a story on the ABA it is for a lawsuit or crime, and this seems to dominate the ABA landscape more than anything else. But, you have been with the ABA before and seen first hand the type of element it permeates, so I will defer to your opinion on this and quit trying to generalize it. All though, it is very, very hard not to.

If this were an isolated thing I probably wouldn't have said anything, but the reality is that you used pretty much every stand in for "black" that you could use - hip hop, South Central LA, fear of a threat to the "innocent public and hard working Americans."

It may not have been intentional but you constantly use massive hyperbole and factually incorrect statements on this board to try to be as inflammatory as possible and when you do that you really run the risk of using language which is questionable.

nhamilton88
01-28-2009, 05:38 PM
Where am I factually incorrect? That 80% of ABA owners are minorities? That 90%+ of the owners have no money and are flat broke coming in? That any press that does get written is of the criminal kind relating to the owners? Hell, one team was named after a rapper (Krunk) and the league constantly promotes "hip hop." PLEASE....lets quit trying to always be politically correct and not hurt feelings and tell it like it is. This is a league made up of an urban mentality that will never connect to the mainstream, "soccer mom" public, and is mainfested by people with bad credit, bad judgement, questionable character and public records that would keep them out of basic jobs. Do you see that in the PBL? How about the soccer leagues? Baseball leagues? It is ONLY ABA owners, and the make-up of them is what it is. What am I stating that is not fact?

I knew about that a long time ago but Paul and I decided not to bring it up. As much as Joe rails on us, we did not want to bring up something as personal as a divorce.

In this case, the arrest does relate to the above mentioned case.

Paul Reeths and Chris Munson. That was a classy move. A professional move.

I really hope Q gets his life together. I also pray for his family. It sounds like he is going through a bad patch.
