ABA Sports Ticker Takes Off
January 26, 2009 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Indianapolis, IN. "We knew there was interest in the ABA; we had no idea how much," stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO. "Since the launch of the ABA Sports Ticker last week, and after we solved some "download" problems, the service has taken off like a rocket and now fans can get all of the latest ABA headlines right on their PC's automatically. It's just like having the crawl at the bottom of CNN, ESPN and Fox News coming across your computer. I'd like to thank all of the fans for supporting the ABA Sports Ticker - and now it's up to us to keep providing interestiing news about the league and the teams."
The ABA Sports Ticker is revolutionary new technology that provides a constant feed of information on PC's. The technology was created by Netsplorer (www.netsplorer.com) and the ABA is the first professional sports league to offer this service. The ABA Sports Ticker is free, the download is free! Simply visit www.abalive.com - click on the FREE ABA Sports Ticker banner - and you can have all of the latest ABA news right on your PC. For more information, visit www.abalive.com.
and now it's up to us to keep providing interesting news about the league and the teams - oh, you mean like schedules, game results, statistics, standings, and a complete listing of the current teams in the league? Or more crap about MLM schemes, little rox and suckers for next year?
we had no idea - you can say that again...

"CNN, ESPN and Fox News"
Joe taking a page from Embry Malone's book with the dropping of names?
What's this ticker gonna show, the newest market reservations sold? Not much else to talk about as far as the ABA is concerned...
Don't forget the Pony deal, or the socks deal, or the PlayOn (a division od Turner Sports) deal, or the ColorsTV deal, or the...

Okay, kids, let's compare.
On Monday, the Premier Basketball League put out its "Weekly Report," containing 13 full pages of game recaps, team leaders, Champlain Cup standings, and the high scorers for every contest.
That same day, the ABA announced an RSS feed generator.
QED.

From the original Joe-bluster about this feed on ABAlive:
The ABA News Ticker will be available entirely for free and will be released very shortly. Pre-registration is also free and fans who pre-register will be eligible to receive one of 1,000 tickets good for their home team. The ABA will also issue ten season passes and five signed basketballs to lucky fans that pre-register and are selected in a random drawing.
Any chance that these passes and basketballs will actually be distributed?
And who, exactly, will be on the "signed basketballs" that anyone outside the signee's immediate family knows or cares about?

"Does Joe REALLY believe this stuff?"
Yes, yes he does. And that's the saddest part.

The ABA CEO is so out of touch with his own league, not even to mention reality ...

Hey ABA CEO ... There's so much interest in the ABA that one of your teams gets written about with the following headline:
Minor league basketball teams in search of fans

The Jersey Express of the American Basketball Association has drawn less than 100 people to its games at Drew University in Madison.
ABA CEO is clueless ...
Maybe Unca Joe could stream the ABA dead list...that's the most up to date content the ABA has right now..

Keep him out of Wichita please. The town has enough problems with all the aircraft companies laying people off.
