Sometimes it is tough to be a journalist...especially when you have to write about the ABA and try to take it seriously!

Knights plan on seeing Stars in their ABA playoff opener
There may be a buzz in the arena Friday night when the Knights open the ABA playoffs. But it won't be the Orange County Buzz.
The Knights announced Wednesday they will play the Los Angeles Stars in the league's playoff opener Friday night at 7:15 at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park.
There was some question as to whether the Stars or the Buzz would be the Knights' opponent. The two teams started the season as one team the Orange County Crush before becoming two separate teams. Both teams contended they deserved to be the team to come to KC, according to Knights coach Bob Sundvold.
They had hoped to be the playoff team, but they're not in, Sundvold said of the Buzz.
Fourteen other teams are in the playoffs. The Knights, 17-8, get to play host to one of the eight games in the single-elimination tournament because they are among the eight teams with the best records.
The highest-seeded winners of the first-round games will be hosts of second-round games. The ABA will have a Final Four on March 14-15.
One team that did make the playoffs the Nashville Rhythm has decided to skip the playoffs because of the recent loss of several key players. This was the team whose owner came onto the court during a game this season against the Knights and fired the coach for playing former Shawnee Mission West standout Matt Freije.
Meanwhile, the Stars reportedly were recently evicted from the Granada Hills (Calif.) Charter High School gym for bouncing checks in excess of $2,000. The rental fee for the gym was $340 per game, but the team was averaging fewer than 20 paid spectators per game.
