From today's New York Newday:

"I honestly believe," Newman said, "that an ABA All-Star team beats an NBA team every time."

He actually said that?

He actually SAID that?

I wonder what the law is in the state of Indiana as to what more you need to commit someone.

BTW, here's the article in question (http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/ny-spharl284160524feb28,0,2391577.story?coll=ny-basketball-headlines).

Pretty good, other than this:

Such madness has been the modus operandi since the ABA's inaugural 2000-01 campaign ended on a glorious note, with George Gervin (a superstar from the original ABA, which lasted from 1967 until 1976) coaching the Detroit Drive to the league title.

A little research, please? Detroit was the Dawgs (one of eight million canine nicknames this league has had) when they won the title. I believe the Drive was Detroit's old Arena Football team.

But Joe - he's just fricking out of his mind. Absolutely, 100 percent insane.

Uncle Joe is reaching new heights (lows?) of delusion. Next he'll be claiming the ABA can cure the common cold, was responsible for inventing the Internet, and has perfected the perfect mouse trap.

What a sad, strange story.

Note: If the ABA adversely affects your "blood flow" for four or more hours, see a physician immediately.

Wow...

"Life here," he said, "is never knowing what will come next. That's how it is in minor-league sports."

One correction: The Pacific Coast League is a minor league. The Continental Basketball Association is a minor league. Flag football in Central Park might be a minor league, if enough dough changes hands. But the ABA - the ABA is something entirely different. It's minor-minor-minor league; sort of the melding of the NBA and a headless chicken.

I thought the AFL Storm coach calling indoor football leagues style of play poor and the NIFL "ankle biters" was the quote of the day. Apparently not.

Great quote!
