With the amount of time Joe spends talking about the Dr. J years or how the ABA is a stepping stone to provide players and coaches a chance to make the jump to the NBA I can't for the life of me understand why he never talks about the ABA giving Kevin Pritchard a chance.
It's debatable as to the role that Joe and the ABA played in Pritchard climbing his way to the top, but he's undoubtedly the top executive in the NBA right now, he's relevant, and internet basketball geeks love him. Why isn't Joe exploiting his name? Does he not even know who he is?

Because Pritchard was with a franchise (about as successful as you can get in the ABA) that got on Joe's bad side because they saw through the scam after a couple of years. Kevin did a good job despite the circus going on around him...like the dance team dressed up like strippers (and working as strippers after the game!)

KP was a great ABA coach is showing the NBA how to get a young team going. His team is awesome and I got to sit down with Kevin in Phoenix the year he was the interm coach. I went and stayed a weekend with Ceballos and attend the Blazers-Suns game and afterwards he gave me some great words.
Also I am happy to see former ABA Coaches I worked under now back in the NBA where they belong.
Scott Brooks - Head Coach OKC Thunder
Paul Westhead - Assistant Head Coach OKC Thunder
2007-2008 WNBA Head Coach and Champion with the Phoenix Mercury
Earl Cureton - Minor League Scout with the New York Knicks and former WNBA Assistant Coach
Corey Gaines - Head Coach of the Phoenix Mercury and head assistant when they won the championship in 2007-2008
Steve Chase who was the owner of the first 3 teams i ever worked for and now is part owner of the NBDL's Bakerfield Jam (he also worked in the orignial ABA and with the LA Lakers back in showtime era)
It is great to have learned from these guys. This is the reason I do this, not the fame and there is no fortune in the ABA, but for the friendships I have encountered along the way
The ABA may not be what is should be, but a few years ago before the D-League it was a great league.
I hate that it cant get back to that level...or can it

The latest incarnation of the ABA was never a "great" league...It was a scam back then as well...but a LOT more money was changing hands. A great league plays all of the games on its schedule...this ABA has never done that. You had a small handful of decent franchises...mostly owners who got smart enough to move on or get out.
Paul Westhead was fired when P.J. got canned in OKC...
I think Roy Rogers was involved in the ABA at one point...He's an assistant with the Nets.
