The Columbus Blackhawks are a Minor Professional Football Team in Columbus, Ohio. The Blackhawks are an up-and-coming organization in the area hoping to bring Columbus football to the forefront of the Minor Professional football community. Currently Columbus has many different teams with average success, and by acting as one body that provides truth and stability we feel we can make Central Ohio a respected football arena outside of what Ohio State brings. Awaiting the Blackhawks will be the United States Football Alliance, a league that will bring good competition on a regular basis. To be competitive and to reach our ultimate goal of a National Championship in 2005, we need quality people who are willing to be what the team needs them to be- a role player or a starter, a quarterback or a cornerback, a pain to the other team or a friend to your teammate. Remember the old high school days where you had a blast knocking heads on the field then talked about it after the game hanging out with some of your best friends? This is what the Blackhawk organization values. Tight relationships are seldom created as often as those in sports, and some of your best friends from the past that you still may talk to are probably old sports buddies. This will be the time to make new sports friends and go to battle again knowing you're in the heat of war next to those same warriors. The even better news is that all positions are wide open, you can have an opportunity to come in and compete right away!
Technique workouts are already underway. These sessions will provide all players with the opportunity to get back to the basics and will allow the team to get everyone on the same page. For the 2005 season, the Blackhawks only ask you to pay your uniform fee which will include nearly everything you need (outside of your pads, cleats and helmet); it will be the only required payment at $125. Uniforms will mimic the black (home) and white (away) jerseys of the University of Hawaii football program with slight differences (see http://uhathletics.hawaii.edu/photo_sport.html?p=3). We also provide tremendous fund raisers that allow you the funds should you not want to pay them out of pocket. Incentives are also provided for those that wish to raise more money for the team. Finally, the Blackhawks are anticipating their home field will be located at Dublin Jerome H.S.- the brand new high school in the Columbus suburb. The field provides the surface of preference for high school, college and pro athletes known as field turf (the same turf as the University of Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Louisville, Hawaii, Miami (Ohio), Missouri, Oregon, Ohio U., Minnesota, Cincinnati, NFL Hall of Fame Field Fawcett Stadium in Canton, and at the NFL home fields of the Giants, Bengals, Colts, Lions, Texans, Steelers, Rams, Vikings, Seahawks and more- see www.dublinjeromeceltics.com and www.fieldturf.com for more information). If you are interested, please visit our website and fill out the player form at http://www.columbusblackhawks.com/playerform.asp. Also, if you have friends or family you feel can be an asset to our organization in any way (players, coaches, trainers, concessions, filming, a statistician, someone to work the sticks during games, etc.), please have them email jsheehy@columbusblackhawks.com. We look forward to meeting each of you and hope the Columbus Blackhawks can be a place you can call home for many years to come.
