Earlier this year I Talked to Joe about a franchise and he quoted me a fee of 20,000. Then I told him I was going to be a non-profit and it went down to 5grand. I was seriously considering it. Then THANK GOD, I found this website and started doing research and found out about good ole JOE! I want to thank you all for the information, and how does he keep doing it?

Hold on...Did you say the team was going to be "non-profit"? If that's the case, you could say all ABA teams are "not-for-profit!"
Seriously, though, we're glad we could help you out. Don't give up on your hoop dreams just yet; look at several other bastketball leagues and see if any of them would work.
Where are you planning to put this team again?

A solid choice, to not join the ABA!

You've hit the nail on the head in terms of what is wrong here. See most people don't research the ABA and the ABA (ie-Joe Newman) doesn't research anyone who wants in.
This leads to a wacky circus where all sorts of people are let in who have no ability, training or means to run a professional sports franchise.
That all being said....................the ABA is not all bad. Really. There have been success stories and I'm sure there will be more. Vermont was a fabulous success. Rochester too. The ABA has a place, it just has so many other problems that the bad outweighs the good.

And so was Halifax.
And they all left.
