So, aside from the dead links, lack of a schedule, no discernible stats or other relevant information - Joe apparently has stopped having what content that IS on the league's website proofread.

The rotating flash window on the front page includes information about the merger of the Fresno Rebals, as well as promoting the inane Power Rankings - and Nashville's hold at number 1 - by adding the tagline on top "6th Weeks Straight" on the upper corner. The Lightyear splash is correct, but that is most likely just cut from thier site as part of the MLM-style agreement. And there is still the "apology" to the Dream, even though Joe has blamed them for the entire episode.

Still waiting for my first ABA newsletter to arrive - I signed up months ago, as well as the last few times it was offered. Also love how clicking 'Vote' on the ABA/CBA poll brings you to a dead link page; when you go back to the homepage to vote, you get a scolding note that says - You may only vote once! - except that it actually means you can only vote once a day. Every day you can go in and vote for your selection (which is probably how Joe has been able to up the 'excellent idea' vote totals.

ABA media = dead links

"Join the ABA Fan Club" click gives you: The page you are looking for is currently unavailable - that's an understatement

You can click on and see the ABA schedule - but really, is it even worth looking at? There is no real point in even posting the schedule, and what is posted is so far from the reality of what is actually being played that it is almost better to have a dead link.

About the only links that works are those that bring you to the list of teams, the news, and - of course - the market reservation page. Gotta be able to get the cash, right Joe?

And clicking on ABA Properties brings you to WB(S)C page. BTW, on the WB(S)C site, that cute little display of international flags which I suppose is to show the various countries that might participate?

What do these stats mean????

http://abalive.com/stats/

And what is "League Record 9-6" and "Overall Record 10-5"????? What is that?

What is the Per Minute.....Per Game and then the Total at the end? WTF is 468:46? The net worth of the average ABA owner? What are these stats?

I'm having a good laugh by clicking on the ABA Schedule page.

Know what's missing on that page?

EVERY SINGLE GAME IN WHICH AN ABA TEAM IS BEATEN LIKE A SLOW HORSE BY A CBA FRANCHISE!

Well, Joe had the kid who runs the site fix the spelling. So, I guess he really does care about us...

Hi, Joe!

No charge for the proof-reading tips. Consider it a holiday gift to you!

But an ABA All-Star team would beat an NBA All-Star team, every time.

I just made my daily "Just Stupid" vote on the ABA/CBA poll.

It's even funnier now that, after you click Vote, the site takes you to a page that says:
The ABA is currently in the process of finalizing the 2008-2009 schedule.
Please check back soon for ticket availability and purchasing options.
(the same screen comes up when you click on the Tickets tab)

So, it is now 2009, and you are still finalizing your 2008-2009 schedule?

It is pathetic that Joe, who made his living in a PR world, would be so out of touch with reality - and, more importantly, the perception of it - that he would keep this page available to be seen by anyone with a mouse. Hard to brag about your league when some of your most obvious faults and failings are there for everyone to see (many of his other failings, of course, are well-chronicled here on OSC...).

We don't have a schedule, standings or stats, but...

We have a new survey!

The burning question now is....

Do you like the combined ABA Playoffs and All Star Game?

Vote early, vote often!

No sign of the final results from the old poll, though.

If he did post the results, and it leaned towards "Just Stupid", he'd probably send out a press release that said the "mean spirited bloggers" hacked the site to taint the poll.

Nah - the results had 'Great Idea' ahead comfortably - I'm sure Joe and his people voted multiple times as well to ensure it stayed well in front.

'Just Stupid' was solidly in second place, however.

And as an aside, for a 'professional' league, what kind of poll option is 'Just Stupid' anyway? Is he trying to be hip with some witty-sounding, self-deprecating choice....

or just the same old Clueless Joe?

(BTW, the same options are availble for the new poll as well)

All-Stars??? or, the guys who could get away from their full-time jobs long
enough to participate?

BTW -- "The fans" are still the players of the month. (Since like October).

...and yes, standings might be nice.

Survey

Will you be attending the 2009 combined ABA Finals and All Star Game in Nashville March 19-22?

45 / 57%: Great concept, I look forward to being in Nashville!

29 / 37%: Good idea, would like to hear more about it.

5 / 6%: Not sure as of yet

79 total votes.

This poll wasn't there yesterday...I find it hard to believe that they already
have 79 votes.

Note that "great concept" is in first place by a majority.
Meaning that this can't be one of us voting from 79 different computers. :D

It wasn't there this morning.

I made my daily "Just stupid" vote for the combined All-Star/Finals poll that had been on the site for a few days.

Just Stupid was far ahead, though; maybe that's why Joe-Joe pulled it...

Added to the Video section. (and courtesy of youtube...)

A 35 year old film about the old ABA.

Better ideas: standings? schedule? explanation of who is and isn't playing?
scores? statistics?

:( Just a thought...
