From another Grade A franchise...

02/24/05 - American Basketball Association (ABA) Los Angeles Stars
The Los Angeles Stars of the American Basketball Association have been evicted from the Granada Hills Charter High School Gym for bouncing checks in excess of $2000.

Rental fee for the Granada facility was only $340 per game. The Stars were averaging fewer than 20 paid spectators per game. Attempts will be made to collect the past due amount from the league office. If that fails, Granada Hills will be forced to pursue legal action against Lowell Moore, owner of the LA Stars.

Granada’s hopes of using profits from the gym rental to buy much needed books and supplies for it’s students have now been put on hold.

Maybe the league can send the school some ABA balls for those students.

I'm sure that Joe will post an open letter to the City of Los Angeles saying that he is sorry for the actions of one bad apple in the bunch, but that they should be happy that he is sending ABA basketballs to every child in Los Angeles (and two to every student at Granada HS) while he finds 20-30 investors in 4-6 seconds to take over the team from this bad apple for next season. Joe, you're such a great guy and an even better businessman. Only you could find these types of thugs to take over teams in one league. Setting aside the low attendance and lack of revenue, shouldn't an owner be able to buck up 325/game out of his own pocket for nothing else than his own pride. My only advice to the Granada HS board... don't even bother to think that Joe or the ABA will come out of pocket to make things right. He hasn't been willing to do it in any other market, why would he start with yours. Save the money that you would have spent in legal fees and buy the books for the kids.

One other thing.... does Joe count LA as one of the 29 active ABA franchises?

Joe should approach WalMart about being a sponsor for the ABA. The ABA has falling teams; WalMart has falling prices. The ABA pays its players and coaches very little, if anything; WalMart pays its employees very little, if anything. The ABA provides a pathetic imitation of a good product; WalMart has made a fortune off of providing pathetic imitations of a good product. The comparisons could go on an on.

So that's why they're going to play at Camp Pendleton. Not because of any desire to honor troops or anything.

Nice one, Joe.

What a class act. Just when you think the ABA has reached a low, it drops even more... What next, Joe? Stealing candy from the mouthes of babies?

This league is a joke.
