Lets face it, at this point whats the difference between 8 guys in a city getting together and calling themselves the city name and travelling to another city to play another 8 guys who got together and called themselves the home city name?

the ABA was always a dung pile, Now CBA has jupmed into the dung pile.

At what point this season will the number of fill-in teams playing ABA games outnumber the number of actual ABA teams? With ABA squads seemingly dropping like flies and new travel teams being announced daily, this could soon be a league in which some teams never have to travel.

What are we up to, eight travel teams?

My count has us at 5, Alexandria Avengers (currently listed on new EBA schedule,) Tri City, LA Slam, NYC Axmen (lost to Jersey—was this the team in the Sound uniforms?) and New Hope Trailblazers. I’m not sure what separates New Hope from Fresno, both were 2009 teams pulled forward. A home court? My guess is that we’ll see more 2009 teams playing later this season. Also, what determines a travel team from a team playing in an exhibition game? Tri City has lost twice to Knoxville but only one was considered a charity/exhibition game. Not on the Knoxville’s original schedule?

How are these "travel" teams put together and are the players those who are not on other team rosters? For example, I wonder if the "LA Slam" is basically a cobbling of the former San Diego team.

Also, do these teams only play when another team cannot meet its obligations? Got to admit, it's pretty amazing that Aoshen was scheduled to play Sacramento last week and 2 days before they announce they're shutting down. Somehow they were able to find an apparently competitive team to play at the last minute called the LA SLam....boggles the mind.

From the Buzz site:

http://www.hometeamsonline.com/teams/default.asp?u=BUZZBASKETBALL&t=c&s=basketball&p=NewsStory&newsID=4325

Don Sanchies who coaches and runs The Los Angeles Slam (formally Semi Pro Inc) said "this is a great chance for the players I have that may have been overlooked or just need to be seen to get their shot.

and from a blog:

http://www.superstarbasketball.org/lifestyle/?p=63

Semi Pro Inc., who are coached by Donald Sanchies and will be bringing former USC standout and former NBA player Jeff Trepagnier (6′5 Guard), 2007-2008 ABA All-Star Ken Wright (6′2 Guard), 2-time Hoop It Up League MVP Jason Sanchies (6′2 Guard). Semi Pro Inc., will also have Hip Hop/Rapper mega star The Game (Jason Taylor) who played high school ball at Compton High School and had a basketball scholarship to Washington State University. Game who is a 6′4 Guard/Forward can really play basketball, shoots well and plays above the rim along with Trepagnier.

Ken Wright now plays for the Buzz. If Burrel is overseeing the schedule, and he's had dealings with Donald Sanchies in the past, then it makes sense that he can at least fill the SoCal portion of the schedule.

I'd also include Minot, Albany and East Kentucky. Because so many announced ABA expansion teams have a habit of never taking the floor, I'd also throw in Fresno.

Good points. To save me from doing a lot of digging, are the total CBA/ABA games an even home and home, or will most games be played at CBA sites?

The CBA will have more home games if for no other reason than Minot will not travel.
