In a recent press release, it says the Adirondack Wildcats have folded(for proof check OSC's USBL section). Also in the press release, it says that Cedar Rapids have failed to find new ownership and have also folded. Knowing this along with Florence & St. Louis folding, has brought the league down to 7 teams. However, also in the press release, it said that USBL will add a team in the Northeast to keep the league at their minimum of eight teams.

Didn't Cedar Rapids lead the league in attendance?

Funny, I thought Cedar Rapids had been a done deal (folded) last fall. I didn't think that was going to be a shock.

Don't be surprised if New Jersey or Washington comes back from the dead. That will make the USBL look like this starting the season in April:
East
Penn. Valleydawgs
NJ/Washington ??
Adirondack Wildcats
Brooklyn Kings
West
Dodge City Legend
Kansas Cagerz
Oklahoma Storm
Kearney (Expansion Team)
The best part about the USBL is that you don't have teams folding in the middle of the season like the ABA (Hear that Crazy Joe).
I personally would love to see the WASHINGTON CONGRESSIONALS and the NEWJERSEY SHORECATS back.I hope they last. How sure are you that THE Flyers, and SKYHAWKS have folded. The Wildcats are going too be doormat in 2005 and return in 2006. I expect the CEDAR RAPIDS ownership to apply to join the CBA. The USBL will be back stronger than ever. I refer all of you to the site and DAN MEISENHEIMERS interview. The man has been here twenty years. If anybody can sustain himself in the business he can.

Cedar Rapids has been looking for a new owner since last fall. They have not found one. I think they said they needed to find a new owner by December 1st, 2004. The All American Professional Basketball League announced it will have a team in Cedar Rapids and play starting this November. The River Raiders did lead the USBL in attendance last year. The present owners of the River Raiders took a look at the CBA last summer and they declined then to join the CBA. I doubt anything has changed.

Remember, Adirondack has folded. The alignment will look more like this:
EAST
Brooklyn
Pennsylvania
Westchester
New Jersey/Connecticut
WEST
Kansas
Dodge City
Oklahoma City
Brevard
(Kearney expansion)-if it goes through. chances are slim though.

Heres what I am thinking it is going to be:
East
Brooklyn
Penn
Westchester
West
Kearney?
Dodge City
Salina
Thats, it any more than those teams and I believe you'd be grasping at straws.

I was excited to hear that Adirondack Wildcats may have been saved for the 2005 season. This was until I found out who the potential new owner was to be.I still would add my advertisement dollar for support as it would be needed to help offset the damage Charles Adams inflicted.
However the season won't be in GlensFalls in 2005.I am guessing also that it won't be any year soon either.
The one dude who was looking to buy, said his insiders in Basketball have advised him to hold off a year.
My crystal ball says "Don't hold your breath,It's nothing more than someone drawing attention to himself"-Those are the Facts.

The USBL updated its teams on its website and to my surprise, only 6 teams remain(Brooklyn, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Oklahoma, Dodge City & Westchester). Wonder if Kearney & Connecticut/New Jersey will be added before the season starts? If the USBL doesn't expand, it'll be the least amount of teams the league has had since its 1990 season(5 teams).
Can someone tell me what happen to Brevard?? They were holding try-outs, dance auditions & doing a lot of advertising. Are they now in a different league??

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Blue Ducks back in the USBL. It has been a while but just for a year wouldn't shock me at all.
What website where you guys looking at? The website has not been updated do to the fact that there may be some more teams added. There are only two teams officially out for 2005, Adirondack and Cedar Rapids.

Look for the USBL to add a new team this week. A second team will probably be added as well. My understanding is the USBL plans to operate with 8 teams this season. There will be four in the midwest and four on the east coast.
The problem as I see it is an unproven WBA in the Southeast and the new IBL. The USBL used to have this time of year to themselves. If JJ gets the CBL off the ground again that would make four summer leagues. The field may be getting too crowded.

Does anyone know what has or will happen to the valleydawgs their website is messed up. Also if someone knows that they are playing where will they be playing their home games I hope it back in Stabler Arena the place last year was very far from the philly suburbs and it was a dump.

My understanding was that the ValleyDawgs were either sold or going to be sold. I have heard something about them playing in Bethlehem, PA, but I am not totally sure about that.
As I said in an earlier post you can expect news about another USBL team in the midwest any day now.

I wonder if their coach will be back. D. Dawkins is a good coach but he is on tv all the time and I wouldn't be surprised if he is done. This is what the USBL needs to do. Relocate all teams to the midwest!! The best crowds are there (DC, OK, Kansas) and it could be regional. I know, I know the corp. is in CT but I think it would bring more money and less spending (especially on east coast or midwest trips). Just a thought. Long Live the USBL and the robot (DC fans will know what I am talking about).

Yeah your right I would be suprised if Darryl Dawkins would come back but I have been wathing that show and I doubt he gets the gig. I dont know about the valleydawgs in Bethlehem they seemed to draw must better at STabler Arena where Lehigh University is and some students would go to the games. They need to advertise more and get some more excitement out I always enjoyed going to the games and i think it could work in the market

As expected, Kearney was granted an expansion francise and the Florence Flyers have moved to New Jersey(Hackensack). This was announced today(3/9) and is available on the USBL's website.
Alignment:
EASTERN DIVISION
Brooklyn Kings
New Jersey Flyers
Pennsylvania Valleydawgs
Westchester Wildfire
MID-WEST DIVISION
Dodge City Legend
Kansas Cagerz
Nebraska expansion
Oklahoma Storm
Glad to see the league at 8 teams. Let's hope Adirondack, Brevard & Cedar Rapids get new ownership and can return in 2006(at least one).

In an article on the USBL website it says the Cedar Rapids team will be return for the 2006 USBL season. That should be interesting. Having an All American Professional Basketball League team playing 60 games (30 home games) starting in November and then having the USBL team return starting in April. Can both teams survive in Cedar Rapids?

Cedar Rapids River Raiders won't be back unless they have new ownership. Ball hogs need to have someone in charge to promote their season before it happens this Novemeber.

I agree, I don't even know if CR wil have any teams by next summer. We will have to wait and see.

I agree. We'll be lucky to have one team. The AAPBL hired Koolbeck, but he quit already. When the River Raiders went up for sale I asked a pretty knowledgeable person in the CR area if they could find a buyer. No way was his response. Neither the USBL or the AAPBL is very stable.

Logo is now up on OSC in our USBL section.
A couple additional notes:
Oklahoma will be under new management.
Brevard has plans to return next season. They're even fielding a "local" team this season that will play exhibition games against area college, semi-pro teams to keep the name from dying. Not a bad idea.
Still, Brevard not being in the league will really help cut down travel costs. The league needs two or three teams in the Southeast or they simply need to say "thanks, but no thanks" to Brevard.

I agree, the USBL is great, especially for being in the Northeast and Midwest, but when you put any team in the southeast, it is just too much to go play just one game and leave. It works for a while but not in the long run.

Sam Hill is still expouting advice. Sam you twit, I work in minor league basketball (CBA) and from the past three years I have read your threads and without question, you have got to be the most ill informed, arm chair quaterback I have ever seen. Make some sense you moron....just once.Hi My name is Sam Hill and I am a moron

Why?????

There is nothing wrong with me. Number one, quit kissing Sam's ass and defending him, he is a twit and number 2, I have read the posts over the past three years and finally had enough of his peabrain take on minor league hoops. First off he has never played in the leagues, coached in the leagues, owned a team in the leagues, scouted in the leagues or ran a team. I just don;t like idiots like him giving his take or expertise or CRITISIZING those who have actually taken a risk in mino league hoops. You don't to post back and stick for him, be a man and let him defend himself. The guy is useless.

But, isn't the purpose of a discussion board to allow ALL viewpoints? I would guess that the overwhelming majority of people who contribute here fall into the same group you describe (never played in the leagues, coached in the leagues, owned a team in the leagues, scouted in the leagues or ran a team). Also, there are a lot of people here who have, at one time or another, excoriated a league or team because of questionable decisions or actions.
I'm just not sure why you are focused just on Sam. I'm not defending him - I don't know him - but I am defending the right of anyone to post there ideas here. If someone throws out an idea you find outright ridiculous, then respond in kind. Point out how wrong they are, in yoour opinion. But making blanket insults serves no real purpose. The next time Sam posts something you disagree with (which is probably as inevitable as the sun coming up in the east), reply back and argue against it. It makes for a better discussion board.
I would be careful to question someone's qualifications before giving any creedence to their post, however. If that were the case, only four people would - under your rules - be able to comment on the President, for example: Ford, Carter, GHW Bush and Clinton. No one else has the experience you deem worthy enough to make a comment.

I agree wholeheartedly with you and discussion is great especially when arguing ones opinions, God knows I have been wrong on more then one ocassion, but my focus is on Sam due to the fact that he truly has no idea on the state of minor league hoops, puts down people in the leagues yet hasn't a CLUE on who they really are, and has met 0% of them. So, my problem has been his peabrain takes over the years giving second rate opinions on something and people he knows NOTHING about. I am intimately involved in minor league and NBA hoops and trust me, this guy is clueless.MY name is Sam Hill and I am a moron

Just please tell me what I've said that's so moronic.
Just once. Please. Tell me something I've posted about the operations of a professional basketball team or league that's moronic.
Just once. You've been in the CBA for three years with those writing skills? Please tell me you're not in PR or marketing with that limited grasp of written English. Even if you have to lie, just tell me.
Originally I thought Mark McClure had made a comeback, but now I'm not so sure. Not that it matters.
For the record, Barkley, anytime you'd like to go head-to-head on ops and marketing of a pro sports team, let me know. Until and unless you want to do that, you're just another internet tough guy who would have graduated from high school if the shop teacher wasn't such a liar.

Barkley 34,
Your posts are meanspirited and conspiratory in attempts to take down Sam Hill. All he has tried to do is make fun, affordable, family-friendly posts on this message board. He also spends money going to restaurants and hotels. You and your kind are klanners and insurgents, hiding behind a phony internet moniker. Please share your real name, so we can all take you seriously.
