Worried Lynx fans had a frustrating Thanksgiving with news the Augusta Lynx are on the verge of folding. An article in the Charlotte Observer broke the news, the crack beat-writer for the Augusta Chronicle either was oblivious or turtling for the team. The article was subsequently taken off the Oberverer's website the but proverbial cat was out of the bag. The team did travel to Gwinnett to extend tgheir losing streak and Friday owners had a press conference coming dlean that the team was indeed on the brink of failure.

Wow - it has been a long time since we had a AA hockey mid-season fold. I think the last was the Columbus Stars in the UHL, and that had to be at least five years ago.
Sorry for the fans in Augusta. :(

Fortunately, it is a pretty rare happening.

Just before Christmas the Fresno Falcons folded as well, never mind the fact they were leading their division. If there aren't enough fan support, or corporate support, the clubs fold.
I believe the Fresno Falcons failed by moving back into an old arena downtown. Even though the arena was recently renovated, it appears many of the fans were from the northeastern area of the city where the new arena is located.
Usually teams that fold are losing, but this is not the case with Fresno. Obviously, the owners made a wrong decision choosing their home arena.

Oh yeah, Telegames prices were always a joke.
Im sure at one time they had every Lynx game listed at £30-35 apart from Lemmings. Though looks like Lemmings can fetch up to £50 on ebay these days.

Ha, where i'm from we thank Columbus for that, their folding gave us a guranteed playoff spot(that we NEVER woulda gotten, ironically we were scheduled to play them the night they folded, I had turned on the radio in time for pregame, it never came, 10 minutes later, they announced it, and I was celebrating because we were going back to the playoffs. lol)Columbus made the retarded mistake of puting a minor league team in a city that doesn't even care about NHL Hockey.

Interesting with Fresno. I was fooling around on YouTube the other night, came across a clip against the Aces with that infamous dirty slash to the goalie near the benches, you would have thought it was practice, hardly see any Fresno fans in the clip, none in like the first 5 rows(this was back in the WCHL days actually)I know the ECHL absorbed the strong WCHL teams, but why was Fresno one of them? They weren't doing well attendance wise and stuff.
