Assume that is paid attendance, not actual attendance. But Not bad for a start-up league in a tough economy, all things considered.

It's also a pretty high percentage of capacity, but the problem I see is meeting all expenses with ticket prices at about $10 a head for most of the teams. OTOH, it's the only professional minor league I've seen where you can get to nearly every venue by public transportation (bus, train, subway; although you may have to walk a few blocks to get a connection and not all of the above run 24 hrs to all the venues).

Through Dec. 19
Team, openings, total, avg., high, low
Brooklyn, 6, 6,877, 1,146, 1,609, 669
Danbury, 7, 8,453, 1,207, 1,891, 592
Jersey, 6, 5,928, 988, 1,423, 784
Hudson Valley, 4, 1,366, 342, 377, 291*
*-698 in two dates at Ice Time, 668 in two dates at Civic Center.
Two games reported as postponed -- Nov. 27 Danbury at Jersey (venue conflict cited as reason), Dec. 19 Jersey at Danbury (weather cited)
My fear about Hudson Valley is actually attendance consists of left over fans from afternoon HS/youth games and guys who showed up early for late night adult leagues.
Brooklyn and Danbury both had severe dropoffs in last home dates. Could be weather related.

That's very possible. Danbury has great fans as even their NEHL team proved. If they have a solid finish then their back end attendance will likely be strong as well.
If they can average around 1,200 per game league wide this year I would consider 08-09 a success if I were Mr. Riggs.
So far, so good for a league that many didn't give much of a chance.
