Anyone know anything about the new leagues popping up?
Heard the six-team Texas Pro Basketball League is drawing OK at the gate and teams have landed secure long term sponsors? What's up so far with the league in the Montana region? Still think North and South Dakota could form a strong six team league with Winnipeg and Saskatoon tossed in to the mix

I think the Texas Pro Basketball League is actually playing with only five teams. A team called the Abilene Force has not started play. The USBasket.com site covers the league, which started back in 2000. I was able to find some old web pages from the "internet archive" web site. I think the league's former web site was tpbl.net, but I have been unable to find a current site. The 2005 teams are the Dallas Diesel, Houston Blaze, West Texas (Abilene) Storm, San Angelo Chaparrals, and (San Antonio) Alamo City's Finest.
The TPBL reminds me of the Southwest Basketball League that disappeared a couple of season ago after starting out in 1999 and eventually adding a women's league.
A team called the Dallas Diesel had been part of the Regional Development Basketball League, which operates in the Fort Worth area. This is another interesting league that has been trying to branch out from a local league. Their web site is on leaguelineup.com. A recent note on the RDBL site says that they were going to merge with the ABA, until the recent bad publicity. The RDBL says that the ABA was looking to get into the spring/summer business with the RDBL.

CJPhillips why would South Dakota and North Dakota want to make a six team start up league with anyone? South Dakota and North Dakota already have the "Lakers and Celtics" of the C.B.A.. the only legitimate and successful developmental league to the NBA, in the Sioux Falls Skyforce and the Dakota Wizards. I point out the NBDL is legit as well, but I wouldn't say successful. If anyone knows or is a credible possibility to be a future owner, stop looking into these fly by night leagues and put your efforts into getting an expansion team in a league that is either backed by the NBA like the NBDL or one that has endured for over 55 years, like the CBA.
