Do any of these "new teams" have ownership groups? Or is this an "if you build it they will come" sort of deal.

Guess the answer is "yes," and "yes."

Sorry,I am just now able to get to this.
The answer was Yes and No...
Each Ownership group approached us. And we would not have launched this without having at least 6 owners, not 6 markets without owners..

Well, it appears at least 3 more teams have nicknames now:
Say hello to the Austin Turfcats, Lafayette Mudbugs, and Texas Titans (Pasadena)!

As I predicted previously, the Southern Indoor Football League will venture forth into former NIFL cities such as Beaumont, Houma, and Waco. See list:
Current SIFL Teams:
Austin Turfcats
Houma, LA
Houston, TX
Lafayette Mudbugs
Louisiana Swashbucklers
Texas Titans, Pasadena TX
2010 SIFL EXPANSION:
* Beaumont, Texas
* Galveston, Texas
* Waco, Texas
* Lakeland, Florida
* Pensacola, Florida
* Tallahassee, Florida
* Tampa, Florida
I hope that the SIFL is serious and has deep pockets. It appears that the SIFL is trying to locate franchises close together to form a bus league to save on cost and this regionalization plan is smart. Indoor soccer is now doing the same and indoor football is being forced into regional leagues as well to save cost. I do with the IFL success and as long as they keep travel cost down and play within their divisions 90% of the time, then they too should make money. I predict that all of these leagues, as long as they have sound business plans, deep pockets, and committed owners, will ultimatly prosper and grown within their regions. I know that most people want a Super League and the IFL maybe just that; however, with the current economic crisis now upon the world, it only makes sense to keep cost down and grow the sport regionally. There can always be a Super Bowl playoff of all indoor leagues with the champion of each at the end of the season, but until the economy returns to normal...and that maybe years from now...I do believe that the sport will contract to a few regional franchises and only a few will survive. The NIFL overexpanded and tried to be the NFL of indoor football with coverage, but was operated by the local backyard bully, Caroyln Shiver, and the NIFL did not have creditability since many teams were underfinanced, understaffed, never paid, never marketed, and not serious about the sport nor the fan. It is not that those cities could not support the NIFL, it was a fact that nobody took them seriously. Just look at the names and former NIFL website: the graphics of some of the former NIFL teams looked like a 12 year old created them and even a few of the franchise names were mispelled. I know that a few franchises never even played a game, while others were real teams. Who could have ever taken them seriously.
Back to the current SIFL. They have a real website, if only a temporary one now, that they are currently updating and are keeping it updated and transparent. As long as the SIFL is responsive to the fan and has real franchises, with real arenas, players, coaches, staff, and front offices that yes...we can call and speak to real people...then I am ready to give this new venture a chance. The reason the new IFL has been given a GOOD Luck as well is that they too, have real teams, real employees, and a real chance at success since they have a real business model with committed owners. The Louisiana Swashbucklers may have survived in the IFL, but their owner obviously thinks that a bus league is a better fit. Besides, this gives us a chance to bring back the Beaumont Drillers (3rd incarnation), Houma Louisiana Bucks (revived NIFL Franchise), and Waco Marshalls. I only want the Tupelo Fire Ants to also return if the Mississippi MudCats are truly dead. Oh, the good ole' days. Happy Days are here again...just leave Caroyln Shiver out of it...............

SIFL INAUGURAL SEASON EFFORTS CONTINUING
Schedule To Be Released Monday, Six Teams To Compete
Continuing tenacious efforts to launch its inaugural season, the Southern Indoor Football League announced today minor modifications in its first-season team alignment.
Six teams will be featured in the first season of play. The Houston Crusaders, originally slated to play in 2009, have converted all focus on 2010 and will be replaced by the Tampa-based Florida Kings who will play a limited schedule in 2009 before joining the league in full in 2010.
The five charter teams - the Louisiana (Lake Charles) Swashbucklers, Acadiana (Lafayette, La.) Mudbugs, Houma Conquerors, Texas Pirates and Austin Turfcats - will play an 11-game regular season with six home games as originally planned and five away. Games against the Kings will count in league standings.
"We're excited about our 2010 Florida teams and having the opportunity to schedule five games with the Florida Kings from Tampa this season," said Robert Winfrey, Director of Operations for the SIFL. ``The Kings had everything in place for full participation in 2009, but the travel logistics did not fit our business model for 2009,'' Winfrey added. ``Due to unforeseen circumstances, Houston is not in a position to field a 2009 effort that would be a sound financial decision, but remains active in league development and is poised for 2010.'' Involving the Kings is beneficial for the SIFL's inaugural season, said SIFL President Thom Hager.
"We appreciate the enthusiasm of the Florida Kings this inaugural season and their commitment to our long-term success," Hager said. "The Kings will get five nights of real-time indoor football experience in 2009 that will enhance their 2010 chemistry and development. ``Yes, we would loved to have had the Houston Crusaders participate this season," Hager added. ``I'm looking forward to the Houston Crusaders participation in 2010 and am confident that our Pasadena team will carry the ball this season in that excellent football market.''
"It has been an exciting time for the SIFL as we have ramped up our efforts to kick off this April,'' Hager continued. `We've been focusing our attention on both 2009 and 2010 seasons as the SIFL footprint can allow up to sixteen teams with two divisions."The vision for the SIFL began with a three-year marketing campaign,'' Hager added. "Our concept is to offer affordable family entertainment in our markets and to grow our league incrementally over three seasons. We did not launch to compete with other indoor football leagues but to augment this great game with a manageable business plan using a regional footprint.''
Hager is very pleased with development of all the teams and has been working with each market using sales training programs, task lists with time lines, and even a syllabus to cover all start up elements for a new team. " I'm most excited about our coaching staff, especially with the addition of Chris Duliban in Austin , Coach Darnell Lee returning to Louisiana, and the legendary John Fourcade in Acadiana,'' Hager said. "The quality of our product will be outstanding for an inaugural season and beyond. We're not interested in being the largest league. We're simply focused on delivering the best product while turning profits and showcasing very talented players. It's time fans stop losing their hometown teams due to escalating operating budgets and poor cash flow."
The league schedule is being finalized for release on Monday, January 26, 2009.

SIFL Owner's Meeting Set for Houston
February 5, 2009 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL)
HOUSTON -- Convening for the second time in less than 60 days, the Southern Indoor Football League's owners, coaches and staff will meet this weekend to make final adjustments for the inaugural season that kicks off Friday, April 17.
The Hilton America in Houston will be the setting for two days of meetings beginning Saturday, February 6, focusing on operations and administration.
"Progress has been excellent as we prepare for our opening night,'' said SIFL President Thom Hager. ``We're learning how to prosper in a changing business environment and discussing new models of operations to insure our long-term success.
``We've had a lot of positive feedback from the sporting industry on our vision,'' Hager added. ``Now it's time to turn what we've put down on paper into real time.''
Updates will be issued each day.

Hey, Mr. General its pretty clear you forgot this is a fan message board site.
Investors for such ventures of that scale would not be on a fan site, it looks like the last scam was the UNGL tryouts, but good luck to you anyway. Serious Business ...........

Agreed, the chance of finding a viable investor here is slim, but not impossible. This site does have owners and team/league front office people here more than most other sites. There also seems to be some well connected and informed fans here. The key is word of mouth and he's hoping we might know someone that's possibly interested that might not be here on the forum.
Maybe it's less than a 1% chance of finding an interested party here, but without his asking it's a 0% chance. I don't understand why so many posters feel the need to belittle him, did it make you feel for important?

Let's say I was in a position where I were thinking about owning a team. Check out dude's initial posts-- they read no better than one of those Nigerian bank scam spam e-mails you get in your inbox. No way in the world would I even feel comfortable submitting anything to the contact info posted.

It was more about no chance of getting some good contact info from this forum and the smacks than it was about the General's creditability.
There are many here with knowledge about ownership and contacts to help. I was once contacted through private message on this very forum from a guy interested in either purchasing or investing in a team. I happened to know an owner in the market he lived and contacted him. This owner was very interested in either selling or adding an investor and took the name and number.
The original guy that PMed me told me the owner had contacted him and they were in negotiations. Whatever the end results came to be were out of my hands but fans can be a valuable foot in the door. The actual owners and team/league employees here can even offer more information and help.
