There was an article in the local weekly newspaper last week about the new IBL team in town, the Macomb County Mustangs. The thing that caught my attention was when the Mustangs owner, 28 year old Bill Bullocks, referred to the IBL as a "semi-pro" basketball league. I was under the impression that the IBL was a professional league. I always thought that you draw the line between semi-pro and professional at whether or not the players were paid to play. I thought the IBL players were to be paid a (small) salary. Wouldn't that make it a "professional" league? I just found it interesting that an owner would downgrade the status of the league. Maybe he is just taking a conservative approach, seeing as how the ABA has bombed in this area recently. :?
As a side note: With this article, and one in the Detroit Free Press, the Mustangs have already received more attention then the ABA Jammers/Wheels have in the year or so since they were announced.
