As many of you here at OCS have, I have wondered what attracts some of these people to the ABA.
After forcing myself to read and try to understand some of the releases put out by the Gwizzles and a few of the other teams, I have finally come to the conclusion that the ABA is the only league that can be referred to using only the first two letters of the alphabet.
Life presents all of us with many challenges. I have special respect for people who are willing to take action to do something most would not. Recognizing one's own limitations is a good place to begin planning doing something unusual. Not having to use more than the first two letters of the alphabet is a challenge that can be met by some ABA owners who realize that having to use a third letter could lead to trouble.
Thus the decision to join the ABA.
Unfortunately, it takes much more than the first two letters of the alphabet, a dream, a few basketballs, and a willingness to fork over some cash to one individual, to organize any business, including a basketball team.
There could be a correlation between the inability to get past the second letter of the alphabet, and not realizing how much is involved in successfully running any business.
While I had to read this thing five times to get the gist of it...The thing that jumped out at me was "The Game ended early do to outside interference from a foot ball game, by kids."
What the hell is that? Fun? Family entertainment?

I missed that the first time! What the heck does that even mean? Did they not book enough gym time and the kids flag football practice scheduled for 9:00 had to start? Did a bunch of kids break something with a football? Why not just leave it out of the press release?
I need to stop reading about the ABA.

Kids wouldn't be playing football in the dark in a cold November rain....
How can that guy in the video POSSIBLY just ASSUME the shooting had NOTHING to do with the ABA game?

Kiddie football sounds like spin. And the owner saying he needs a bigger venue may translate to he needs a venue on a safer part of town.

According to the report on the game, the game was halted in the fourth quarter because of a football game. Now the report from ABC30 says the game never made it to the second half. Gee, I wonder what is true.
Fact or fiction; you decide.

Did The Raw Feed try to fix it? It cites most of the Fresno "article" - including the stoppage with 1:40 to play.

Fresno Rebels Sneak Past the San Francisco Rumble 109-105 - ABA
Monday, November 10, 2008 at 07:15AM
MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Fresno, CA. The 2009 ABA Fresno Rebels won a very close exhibition game over the #3 ranked San Francisco Rumble on Saturday night, 105-109. "We were very impressed with the team that the Rebels have put together," stated Rumble owner Damone Hale. "We have no doubt they are going to be very competitive when they begin play next year. Meantime, it really gave us a chance to look at our full roster of players under game conditions and came away very pleased with many of the performances. I would like to add that I was also very impressed with the way the Rebels packed a 1500 seat gym. The people of Fresno appear to be very supportive and Diego Redd, Dominick Young and the rest of the organization has to feel very proud today.
Legendary coach Jerry Tarkanian was courtside the some well-known ex-Fresno State players, including ex-NBA player Terrance Robertson as well as Demetrius Porter, Dominick Young, Shannon Swills and NBA bound Ja'Vance.
T-Robe led the Rebels with 33 points, 10 rebounds. Dominick Porter had 27 points, JaVance Coleman 19 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds. 7'0 Mustafa had 20 rebounds and 20 points while Swills contributed 11 assists and 12 points. Dante Sawyer of the Rumble led the team with 35 points.
The game was held at Memorial High School where Coach Tarkanian started. It ended early because of interference outside the arena from a kids' football game in the parking lot, and the Rebels Athletic Director, Larry Lopez thought it was wise to stop it with 1 minute, 40 seconds to go. Diego Redd, one of the Rebels owners stated, "This is just the beginning. While the school was great, we think we'll be playing in Sellend Arena if the crowd is any indication of the support we'll be getting." Or the high school takes a dim view of shootings on its grounds and may not let the Rebels back.

How does a football game outside stop the game inside? I laughed all the way through that article.

Latest word I've heard is that two people were shot in the legs. There may have been a lack of security presence at the game.
