<DBS President David Higdon said Ellis and the management team have been disappointed in the way the ABA has been run, and that they had lost interest weeks ago in becoming part of it.

"Nobody's bummed," Higdon said. "Even if we had broken even in a professional league, it would have been OK to do it. But this ... we just weren't going to basically throw away money, because nobody is leading the (ABA).>

Don't worry. I'm sure Joe has six or seven people who would move in there in a minute and buy the franchise.

Although, I would question Bakersfield's basketball savvy if this made it into print in the story:


The ABA, in its third reincarnation since the first version that introduced the red white and blue basketball, the 3-point shot and superstars like Julius Irving and Moses Malone to the game in the 1970s, has been rife with incidents and stories of franchise struggles this season.
