Did the ECHL institute a rule that locked-out NHLers were not allowed in the all-star game? I noticed Scott Gomez was leading Alaska in points but was not named to the all-star game. If it wasn't a rule does anyone know why he was excluded?

The ECHL spends so much time promoting their player development angle that I am darn sure they use the ASG to promote younger talent. Gomez would detract from this.

I guess that makes sense but it just doesn't seem like an ASG if one of the best players in the league is excluded. It seems to be a bit of semantics possibly, but if they wish to promote the younger guys, maybe call it the Future Stars Game.
