I've always thought that indoor football could succeed in Dayton --if folks did it right. That means quality production, good planning, and former BUCKEYES, FLYERS (Univ. of Dayton), and perhaps Bearcats (Cincinnati). Maybe a Ohio U Bobcat too. Ideally bring in a GM or Co-owner with local roots and sports fame. Kirk Herbstriet would be perfect due to his hi ESPN profile and status as former Buckeye QB and local prep star (for Centerville).

The Dayton Warbirds seem to be following this plan as much as possible. No Herbstriet of course as I doubt he'd be interested. But they've recently signed two very good former Buckeyes. Pepe Pearson, RB (and WR?) and Belisari at QB. Great moves! Now bring in a former Flyer QB to compete at QB and we'll really have something.

We won't see the on field product until the UIF starts play in March. But nice start Warbirds.

Bellisari...a former "very good" quarterback? I hope they bring in someone to compete with him...

Okay, he wasn't great. But at this level of football, a former starting QB for a major Division I college is a very good start.

Vanderbilt had a freshman pitcher on the baseball team a few years ago who doubled as a part-time outfielder-first baseman. He had a 4-8 record, a 4.60 ERA, and was SHELLED by every SEC team he took the mound against; he transferred after one year to USC.
I guess I ought to mention his name---- Mark Prior.
Also, Dontae Jones' closest competition for the ABA-East scoring title is coming from John "Helicopter" Humphrey of the Boston Frenzy, a player who averaged a modest 9 ppg as a Senior at MTSU.
College play is not ALWAYS the best forecast of what a player will do in a professional league. Sometimes, but not all the time.

Bellisari wasn't really given a fair shot to do what he did best from the get-go...a safety turned quarterback? I guess that's probably one of the reasons John Cooper was 3-a bazillion against Michigan and 3-8 in bowl games or something like that.

Bellisari could certainly be another Shane Franzer-type (OV Greyhounds) in that he is a QB, but can also play defense and special teams for the Warbirds. Two-way play isn't required in the UIF, but having GOOD two-way players on your roster is a surefire way to quickly improve a team.
