Have heard a few rumors regarding the vacant position of IFL commissioner. In no particular order:
- Paul Aaron, current UIF commissioner
- Tommy Benizio, Odessa Roughnecks owner would have to sell his team
- Gary Tufford, former WIFL commissioner
I've also heard that current Intense League commish Dan Blum isn't pursuing the job.
Of the three above guys, both Aaron and Benizio are connected to one of the merging leagues. That might translate into resistance from some of the other league owners or perhaps owners in their own league. Tufford has been largely unconnected with either league.

The guy who ran the AFL for years is available.

Heh Heh. Cleveland Gary. Heh Heh.
One of the best unknown stories was how close the WIFL and IFL were closed to an alignment before my Daytona people killed the deal ... ^&*%%* ... Bygones.

Gary Tufford did an excellent job with the WIFL, and that was with less-than-stellar owners in Daytona and Osceola.
That bit about the WIFL-IFL merger is interesting. When was that? Was it before or after the 2007 season?

And they kept us from knowing how less-than-stellar those owners were.
It's almost like Port Huron and Battle Creek all over again.

Received word that Tommy Benizio has been named the IFL's first commissioner. In addition, he has reached an agreement to sell the Odessa Roughnecks.

Interesting concept, you can't own a team to run the league...

It's almost like Port Huron and Battle Creek all over again. Again you dont have a clue on what you are talking about, Osceola owners were the best funded owners in the league, didnt make'm the best but had the most stack's.

Yes, the Osceola owners were loaded and didn't hold back spending on their team. My understanding is they made an offer to purchase Daytona Beach after the WIFL season in an effort to save the league.

Good choice. Tommy will do a fine job as commissioner. He's got his hands full with some of the teams they've let in, but I'm sure he can handle it.

If you saw the professionalism displayed at the IFL meetings you would have been impressed. From Tom Osbourne given a speech on character to the agenda was unexpectedly excellent.Tommy was the person that spearheaded the meetings.Great choice on his selection.

Character in conjunction with indoor football is an oxymoron.
