They had a heck of a run in the playoffs, knocked off both WBS and Spokane on the road. The Shock have averaged over 10,000 per game, that's a hostile environment to play in. You don't run into crowds like that in the af2 and many players aren't prepared and taken by surprise at the crowd noise.
Plus their QB went down with an injury during the first series, the backup did an outstanding job throwing for 7 TD's and no picks. Then he scrambles for the 2 point conversion to win it in overtime. WOW, that was one of the better games I've seen in a long time.
I'm curious though, why do some posters here have a disdain for Doug MacGregor? He's always been a great owner, very fan friendly and has worked hard to improve his teams. Last season was his first in the af2, he either purchased expansion or weak teams. Everyone tried to laugh last year when his teams were in the bottom half of the league. This year he had 4 teams in the playoffs, 2 were in the Conference Championship games, and 1 actualy won the cup.
How long have they been calling the Dusters SHAMARILLO? He installed a new coach and made some front office changes and they went to the Conference game. The Vipers have been around what, something like 8 years and have always been lackluster.
He's improved some exisitng teams and brought the af2 to some newer markets. He always looks for local ownership partners and investors to take care of the local fans.
Please tell me he didn't pee in your Cherios in grade school - lol
