I have been watching womens football since the WPFL Barnstorming Tour. ALOT of teams and leagues have come and gone. The remaining leagues are:

1.) WPFL
2.) NWFA
3.) IWFL

Of these 3 leagues the WPFL is the most viable and the original. But sad that they are not going to be able to survive and they are playing in the wrong season. The NWFA would be the next viable league but they have issues. Then finally, the IWFL. They state they are about women, for the women and ran by the women. A nice idea, but they black-list people from their organization, to the point of gender discrimination. Last I heard, that is against the law.

A serious change needs to happen in womens football. I personally don't see any changes being made in the current organizations. Teams are left with choosing between the lesser of 2 evils. Not a good way to pick a league.

I feel there are 3 aspects a league needs to concentrate on in order to make changes that are beneficial to everyone:

1.) Concern yourself about the players
2.) Concern yourself about the Team Owners
3.) Concern yourself about the business

Whether anyone wants to admit it, womens football is a business. It needs to be run like one. The NFL is a business, the NCAA is a business, high schools are a business, so why isn't womens football run like a business? It's time to wake up and grow up folks, the days of daydreams and empty promises are over. Football is real and should be treated as such.
